What a weekend. 🖤

Eagle Dance Center’s 30th Anniversary Recital Weekend is officially complete, and to say this season tested us would be an understatement.

Dates changed. Schedules changed. Plans were rewritten more times than we can count. There were moments of stress, uncertainty, and problem solving around the clock - all while trying to protect the experience our dancers had worked so hard for all season long.

But this weekend reminded us exactly who we are.

Three full performances. Hundreds of dancers. Countless memories made.
And a community that showed up for one another every single step of the way.

This weekend was about far more than costumes, lights, and performances. It was about resilience. Teamwork. Patience. Dedication. Friendship. And the love of dance that carried us through every obstacle thrown our way.

To our dance families: Thank you for your grace, flexibility, patience, and unwavering support throughout every unexpected change. Your trust in us means more than we could ever put into words.

To our staff, volunteers, stage crew, sound and lighting team, theatre partners, dance dads dragging Dream Duffels, dance moms fixing ponytails, costume organizers, and every person who stepped in wherever needed: Thank you for helping make this weekend possible.

And most importantly, to our dancers: THANK YOU. Thank you for continuing to show up with excitement, heart, determination, and passion despite all of the craziness surrounding this season. Watching you take the stage this weekend reminded us all why we do this in the first place.

As we celebrated 30 years of Eagle Dance Center this weekend, one thing became more clear than ever:
EDC has never just been a dance studio. It is a family. It is a community. It is a home.

And after this weekend, we could not be more proud of the one we’ve built together. 🖤❤️💛

After wrapping up an incredible tech week last week and finishing last night with our venue rehearsal, it’s finally, officially here! Recital weekend for EDC!

Last night also felt like the perfect reminder of what makes our little arts community here in Galion so special.

A huge thank you to Galion Community Theatre for stepping in so quickly when we unexpectedly needed a recital venue this season. Their kindness, flexibility, and support over these last few weeks have meant more than we can properly put into words!

Even more special - last night was a true little “arts district swap.” While we held our recital rehearsal at the theatre, GCT held rehearsal for their upcoming production of “Finding Neverland” at the dance studio across the street. Two local arts organizations helping each other make the magic happen, all within one little corner of Galion. 🫶🏻

We are so grateful for the friendships, partnerships, and community support that continue to make the arts thrive here!

Now… it’s finally time. Costumes are steamed, props are packed, and tonight and tomorrow, our dancers get to take the stage and celebrate everything they’ve worked for this season!

We are currently seeking passionate, reliable, and positive individuals who are ready to make an impact in our dancers’ lives, both in and out of the classroom.

Opportunities may include:
• Competitive team choreographers/instructors
• Recreational program choreographers/instructors
• Assistant teachers
• Front desk/support staff

We are looking for individuals who value strong work ethic, leadership, and teamwork, and who are committed to helping dancers grow not only in their technique, but as confident, respectful individuals.

Due to the continuation of Crawford County’s Level 2 snow emergency, drifting and covered roadways, and dangerously low temperatures, Eagle Dance Center will be CLOSED this evening for the safety of our staff and students.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy a cozy snow day! ☕️🧣

We dug out the back staff entrances of the studio (that have since blown back over...) and checked the local roadway conditions - then got back inside where it's warm!

Life is, indeed, better in a small town... especially when snow days are fueled by Three Bean Coffee House! ☕️❄️

After heading out to survey road conditions for this evening’s classes (and making a necessary stop at Three Bean for some admin day fuel), EDC will be closed this evening due to today’s weather.

Thank you for understanding as we prioritize the safety of our dancers, families, and staff. ❤️

What’s your go-to snow day drink?! Today’s choice is a maple almond oat milk latte!

(PS… there were still a few of these super cute mugs left if you’re also a small town lover. 😉)

What do you love most about teaching dance?
- The joy and excitement a dancer has when they accomplish something they have been working hard on.

Favorite dance style to teach?
- Lyrical, contemporary.

What's a fun fact about you?
- I met and talked to Patrick Swayze at a Dance Teacher Conference in NYC!

Miss Alexis!

What styles do you teach?
- I teach creative movement, jazz, ballet, and tap!

What do you love most about teaching dance?
- The thing I love most about teaching dance is seeing the kids smile when in class. I love seeing them come into class excited and ready to learn and saying how they can't wait for the next Tuesday class to come.

Coffee order or energy drink of choice?
- My favorite coffee is any lattes that are caramel or seasonal. I also love Alanis!

Favorite band/artist?
- Taylor Swift🫶

If you aren't teaching dance, what are you doing?
- If I'm not teaching I'm probably taking dance classes, cheering, hanging out with friends, participating in school activities, or supporting women's sports.

Favorite dance memory?
- My favorite dance memory is probably from last season when my group dance got invited to recompose and we won the "Big Show Champion" title. Our group had so much fun that last time competing.

What do you love most about teaching dance?
- I love getting to watch my students grow in both technical skills and confidence! It makes it all worth it ❤️

What's one thing you hope your students gain from your class?
- I hope they gain a passion for dance and build lifelong friendships

Favorite dance memory?
- Probably the countless trips to Myrtle Beach for Nationals! We always had a blast and danced hard!

Favorite movie or TV show?
- The Office

If you aren't teaching dance, what are you doing?
- Probably working as a pediatric nurse, being a mommy to 2 crazy little girls, or reading a good book!

Miss Beth Anne!

What's one thing you hope your students gain from your class (besides technique)?
- I hope the dancers gain the knowledge that dance is for every.body. And that there is value and meaning to the art they make.

Favorite dance style to teach?
- Contemporary!

Favorite dance memory?
- A standout memory will always be making the top three soloists at nationals with my fellow instructors, Taylor and Anna, our senior year.

Go-to dance shoe or brand?
- This is a great example of do what I teach, not what I do 😅 my dance shoe of choice are wool socks.

Coffee order or energy drink of choice?
- If only choosing one coffee, I'm getting an iced Americano with a bit of maple and a splash of oat milk.

Favorite band/artist?
- The Beatles

If you aren't teaching dance, what are you doing?
- If I'm not teaching dance, I am either working for United Way of North Central Ohio, making coffee at Three Bean Coffee House, choreographing for a local school, directing at Galion Community Theatre, OR hanging out with my dog, my husband, or my sister ❤️
