It's New Year's Resolution Season!
I am NOT a Resolution Hater. I LOVE New Year's, and making plans and goals for the year ahead.
What I do hate, is seeing people dive head first into the deep end of changing their health and fitness habits before they learn how to tread water.
This time of year people tend to have higher than usual motivation to change their health and fitness, so they want to go all in- start working out every day, cut out all the sugar and junk food, etc.
You see lots of challenges springing up preying on this mentality too- Whole30, 21 Day Sugar Detox, 75 Hard, etc. And SOME of these challenges may help SOME people, but I think often they do more harm than good.
9 times out of 10 when someone does one of these challenges, especially when it comes to giving up a food, if they happen to make it through the challenge the first thing they do when it's over is dive head first into a bag of chips or swing through DQ for a large Blizzard.
Then they feel guilty and tell themselves they'll start the challenge again tomorrow, but they have more and more trouble doing so, and a vicious cycle begins.
I want you to remember that you don't have to go all in immediately to make worthwhile changes. You might even be shooting yourself in the foot if your try to do so. Daily, weekly, monthly small improvements are more valuable in the long run than a few weeks of "perfection."
If you need help finding the balance between pushing yourself and making sustainable changes, I'm your coach. DM to learn more about how I can help you reach your health and fitness goals and still feel free to live your life!
