Onterio Ridge to Shell Beach Bluff Loop. California, have you all heard of switch backs? This trail was gorgeous, but rough. Lot's of loose gravel, some scrambling. At on point the birds were circling me, like the bet on me loosing the battle on this one. I showed them 💪

📢 Attention Hikers & Volunteers

If you’re planning to hike in the area near where Birdie was last seen, we want to let you know she is wearing an Apple AirTag. To help us possibly get a ping and locate her, here’s some important information for both iPhone and Android users on how you can assist while hiking in the area.

🚫📱 iPHONE VOLUNTEERS – AirTag Search Instructions

Birdie’s AirTag updates through Apple’s Find My network when it comes within Bluetooth range of an iPhone.

🔋 Phone Settings
✅ Keep Bluetooth ON
✅ Keep Location Services ON
✅ Keep your phone powered ON
✅ Keep phone unlocked when possible

Detection happens automatically no need to open the Find My app.

🟣 Search Tips
• Space out 30–50 yards apart
• Move slowly
• Pause every 1–2 minutes
• Focus on game trails, water sources, drainages, and downhill paths
• Loop back through areas if possible

🔔 If the owner gets a ping
• They can trigger “Play Sound”
• Everyone go quiet and listen carefully for a faint chirp

⚠️ AirTags are NOT GPS. They only update when near an iPhone (roughly 30–100 feet, often less in dense forest).

🚫📱 ANDROID VOLUNTEERS – AirTag Search Instructions

Android phones do NOT automatically detect AirTags. You must manually scan using Tracker Detect.

🔋 Before Searching
✅ Turn Bluetooth ON
✅ Turn Location Services ON
✅ Disable battery optimization for the app

🔎 While Searching
1️⃣ Open Tracker Detect
2️⃣ Tap “Scan”
3️⃣ Wait 10–20 seconds
4️⃣ Repeat every 5–10 minutes

❗ App does NOT scan continuously; you must manually rescan.

🟣 Search Tips
• Space out 30–50 yards apart
• Stop moving before scanning
• Stay quiet during scans
• Focus on dense timber, ravines, drainages, and off-trail areas

🔔 If a tracker appears
• Tap it
• Select “Play Sound”
• Stop talking and listen carefully

⚠️ Android users cannot see live location or last known location. You must be physically within Bluetooth range. Slow and steady scanning is key.
