This week, the Shenandoah Riding Center staff had the privilege of spending two days learning from renowned horsemanship clinician Mark Lyon.
Mark has dedicated his career to helping horses and people communicate more effectively, with a strong focus on understanding the horse's perspective, building trust, and developing clear, consistent communication. Drawing from the Vaquero tradition and years of experience studying under some of the industry's most respected horsemen, Mark's approach emphasizes feel, timing, and creating willing partnerships between horse and rider.
Over the course of the clinic, our staff sharpened their horsemanship skills, expanded their understanding of horse behavior, and gained valuable insights that will continue to benefit both our horses and riders for years to come. Great horsemanship is a lifelong journey of learning, and opportunities like this help us continue striving to become the horsemen and horsewomen our horses deserve.
A huge thank you to Mark for coming to Shenandoah for the third year in a row and sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion with our team. We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to putting these lessons into practice as we continue to learn, grow, and improve our partnership with our horses.
The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing and we're excited to keep building on what we've learned.
