🚨 RIVER CONDITIONS UPDATE – JUNE 13, 2026 🚨

Due to current river conditions and forecasted flooding, James River Canoe Rental has suspended all float trips for the next several days.

The James River at Galena is expected to rise to approximately 17.5 feet, creating dangerous conditions including strong currents, high water, floating debris.

The safety of our customers, staff, and equipment will always come first. We will continue monitoring river levels daily and will provide updates as conditions improve.

If you have a reservation scheduled in the coming days, we will be reaching out regarding rescheduling options.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this high-water event. We look forward to getting everyone back on the water as soon as conditions are safe.

🌊 River Update: June 12th, 2026 🌊
Current water level is 6.6 currently flowing at 2.50 cfps

We are keeping our floats suspended today. The river is still sitting above 6 feet, and our rule is absolute: we do not put in above 6 feet.Our policy is strict because your lives matter to us. Safety always comes before profit, and we’d honestly rather deal with a bad review for a missed day on the river than a tragedy.

🚨 LAST CALL FOR REGISTRATIONS! 🚨

River Rescue 2026 is happening THIS SATURDAY, June 13th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and we need to finalize our headcount for lunch! 🍕🎉

If you’ve been meaning to sign up to help us clean up a 6-mile stretch of the lower James River, this is your official reminder. It’s 100% free to participate, but registration is required so we can make sure we have enough supplies (and food!) for all of our amazing volunteers.

Gather your floating crew, pack your life jackets, and let's make a massive impact for our community. 💪🚣‍♀️

🚨 JAMES RIVER FLOAT UPDATE 🚨
As of this afternoon, the James River at Galena is still running above our safe operating level. While the river has been dropping, it remains above 7 feet, and the water is still brown, muddy, and carrying debris from recent high water.
For the safety of our guests and staff, all floats remain suspended until the river drops below 6 feet and the water clears up.
Safety is always our top priority. High, murky water can hide hazards, increase current speeds, and create unsafe floating conditions.
We will continue monitoring river conditions daily and will post updates as soon as we are able to safely resume operations.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We know everyone is eager to get back on the water, and so are we! 🛶☀️

⚠️ RIVER SAFETY UPDATE – FLOATS SUSPENDED ⚠️

Due to a Flash Flood Warning and forecasted heavy rainfall across the James River watershed, river levels at Galena are expected to rise rapidly. For the safety of our guests and staff, we are suspending all float trips until further notice.

River conditions can change quickly during flood events, creating dangerous currents, floating debris, and rapidly rising water levels. We will continue to monitor the James River gauge and weather forecasts closely before resuming operations.

If you have an upcoming reservation, we will be contacting affected guests regarding rescheduling options.

Please do not make travel plans until we announce that conditions are safe for floating again.

⚠️ RIVER CONDITIONS UPDATE – 6/1/2026 ⚠️

For the safety of our customers, we are currently NOT putting anyone on the water at this time.

The James River gauge at Galena is currently above our safe floating level of 6 feet, and the water is still very murky from recent high water conditions. When river levels are elevated, the current becomes stronger, debris can be hidden beneath the surface, and overall floating conditions become unsafe.

We will resume rentals as soon as the river drops below 6 feet and the water clears up enough to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. We will continue monitoring conditions closely and will post updates as soon as the river is back to a safe level.
