March is Women’s History Month, and this month, we are proud to highlight some of the amazing women who are making a lasting impact at the Georgia Mountains YMCA. Today, we recognize Christian Mims, Vice President of Marketing and Communications.

Her favorite part about working at the Y is seeing the real impact we have on people every day. Whether it is a child gaining confidence, a parent finding support, or someone improving their health, you can see lives changing in real time. It makes the work feel meaningful beyond just a job. Dr. April Conley Kilinski, her women’s writing professor, had a lasting impact on who she is today. She challenged her to think more deeply, find her voice, and communicate with purpose. The way she created space for honest expression while still holding high expectations shaped how Christian approaches both leadership and storytelling. Women’s History Month is a time to recognize the impact women have made across generations, often without recognition. It is also a reminder to continue creating space for women to lead, grow, and be heard, not just this month but every day. What connects most deeply with her is the Y’s commitment to being for everyone. The YMCA meets people where they are, whether that is a child learning to swim for the first time, a family needing reliable childcare, or an adult working to improve their health. It removes barriers and creates access so that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, can grow and thrive. The Y responds to real needs in the community. Programs are built around what issues are facing our community right now, and they evolve as those needs change. That ability to listen, adapt, and show up where it matters most is what makes the mission so impactful.

Thank you Christian for all you do for the Y and for making a lasting impact!

March is Women’s History Month, and this month, we are proud to highlight some of the amazing women who are making a lasting impact at the Georgia Mountains YMCA. Today, we recognize Nicole Barrett, Program Director.

Her favorite part about working at the Y is the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children and families every day. She enjoys creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and build confidence while also supporting families in our community. A woman who shaped the person or leader she is today is her mom. To Nicole, Women’s History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the strength, achievements, and contributions of women throughout history and in our everyday lives. It’s also a reminder to continue supporting and uplifting the next generation of women leaders. The part of the YMCA mission that connects most deeply with her is strengthening communities through youth development. Helping children grow, learn, and reach their potential is incredibly meaningful to her, and it’s rewarding to know that the work we do helps build a stronger future for families and our community.

Thank you, Nicole, for the difference you are making in the lives of the children and throughout our community.

March is Women’s History Month, and this month, we are proud to highlight some of the amazing women who are making a lasting impact at the Georgia Mountains YMCA. Today, we recognize Dana Satterfield, Association Administrative Assistant,

Her favorite part about working at the Y is being able to contribute to a greater purpose by helping our community grow together. She loves being a part of an organization that strives to create a place where all people feel welcomed, valued, and supported. Two women who helped shape her into the person and leader she is today are her oldest sister and mom. Her oldest sister has shaped her in so many ways. She has taught Dana to continually strive toward her goals, work hard, while keeping Christ at the center of everything she does. Her mom has also had a great impact on her life. She has shown me what it means to have compassion for all people and to be someone who makes others feel welcome. She has always reminded her that through Christ, we can do all things. To Dana, Women’s History Month is a time to reflect on the women who came before her. To appreciate those who fought for the rights and freedoms that allow women today to pursue their calling. The part of the YMCA mission that connects most deeply with her is creating a space, through Christian principals, that not only helps build healthier bodies but also strengthens mental well-being.

Thank you Dana for all the hard work you put in each day to make the Y a better place! We are thankful for you.

March is Women’s History Month, and this month, we are proud to highlight some of the amazing women who are making a lasting impact at the Georgia Mountains YMCA. Today, we recognize Patricia Ingram, Director of Early Learning Centers.

She is grateful for the chance to make a difference in the lives of families and to work each day with people who support one another like family. Two women who shaped the person and leader she is today are her mom and her former boss. Her mom was always a hard worker and instilled a strong work ethic in her that continues to guide her in both her personal life and her career. She showed Patricia the value of dedication, perseverance, and doing your best in everything you do. She would also like to credit one of her former female leaders who was very no-nonsense but believed in her and trusted her with opportunities to lead. Her confidence in Patricia helped to grow and develop her as a leader. To Patricia, Women's History Month is about recognizing the strength, leadership, and contributions of women by celebrating the many ways they continue to make a difference. For All connects most deeply with her. She believes everyone deserves a safe, welcoming place where they feel supported and valued. Being part of an organization that strives to serve all families and children, regardless of their background, is something she is very proud of.

Thank you Patricia for all you do. We are thankful for your hard work and dedication!
