Our night at Cherokee Speedway didn’t go as planned. We’ve been struggling to find speed and get the car where it needs to be this year, but in the feature tonight, we finally had something we could be proud of. The car was strong and I felt like we were really turning a corner and finally getting the monkey off our back.
That is until… we fell a little short in qualifying which put us starting 13th. Made some changes after qualifying and were working our way up to 7th in the feature.. Unfortunately, a divebomb move and lack of patience led to a racing incident that should have been avoided, resulting in a pile-up and my car landing completely upside down.
That’s never how you want a night to end, especially when you feel like things are finally coming together. However, that’s part of racing — The most important thing is that I was able to walk away; God is good, all the time! Cars can be fixed, but people can’t, and I don’t take that for granted.
I want to thank Cherokee Speedway & BLUE RIDGE Outlaw Latemodels safety crew and personnel for their quick response to get me out of the car and turned back over.. My team for standing by me through the good and bad, my family for their constant support, Dixie Metal Works & Racing for building me a safe race-car, every fan, friend and fellow racer who reached out or stopped by to check on me. Aaron W**d and his incredible crew for all their help; Irmo Grading & Clearing, Sander’s Brothers Construction, Kemmerlin Farm’s, Hugo’s Laundry Repair, Earl’s Performax Automotive, Cagles Racing Automotive, Mark Shirey Racing Engines, Dixie Metalworks and S&S Custom Decals for their loyal support and confidence in me. The support means more than I can put into words.
Also, Special thanks to Timbo Nation T1 and his crew for their helping hand in time of need and lending me a tire to get back across the track. True sportsmanship.
Nights like this remind me how dangerous this sport can be, but also how blessed I am to do what I love and have the people I do in my corner. It’s in tough moments like these you realize how strong your circle is and why you keep pushing forward.
We’ll pick up the pieces, regroup, rebuild and come back stronger and better!🦾😎
Thank you all for the prayers, messages and love 💙🏁
