A lot of coffee, and a little reading 💡
Psalm 37:4
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
What request, petition, desire, or wish do you have? What is it you have been reaching for? How have you been trying to obtain, find, get, or gain what seems to be just out of your reach? Desire is something everyone of us should have awakened with this morning. If you didn’t, go back, roll out of bed, and let your feet start your daily journey from the other side.
Is it me? Am I alone, or does it seem like the harder we push the more some things slip away? If you are like me, you become consumed, obsessed, fanatical, fixated, and for lack of better terms, possessed with the fulfillment of the thing we feel we can’t live without. For some it’s exoneration, exemption, release, or immunity from someone or something in the past. With others it’s the need to be at the top, a winner, or frontrunner. Some seek to be the head, boss, or authority, while others desire riches, resources, fame, fortune, and prosperity. Yet some are seeking love, acceptance, respect, recognition, acknowledgement, or appreciation.
The need of fulfillment pushes us to do things we never thought we would to receive it. If I may be brutally honest, the pull is so strong we become lustful. Lust is not just a sexual thing. It can become the thing that propels us bringing about sinful actions, thoughts, judgments, and views trying to obtain in our flesh what the Psalmist said God is waiting to give us.
One simple principle the Psalmist taught us, “DELIGHT yourself in the Lord”, take pleasure in God. Walk pleasing to Him. When we realize His response to our taking pleasure in Him, the Psalmist said we no longer have to push, shove, pursue, chase, hunt, or track in our flesh our desires. God will give them to us.
Our prayer for you this week: May you learn to take pleasure in God, receiving the desires of your heart.
