There are some accomplishments that deserve more than a quick congratulations.

Congratulations to our own Coach Zach Boraski on his induction into the Fuquay-Varina High School Hall of Fame!

Coach Zach’s connection to Fuquay-Varina Baseball goes back long before he ever stood in the third-base box as its head coach. He grew up around the program, serving as a bat boy beginning at just eight years old and being there as a 12-year-old when the Bengals captured the 2002 state championship. He later put on the uniform himself, playing varsity baseball for FVHS before continuing his baseball career at the collegiate level.

He returned to FVHS as a coach in 2013 and eventually took over as head coach in 2018. What followed was an incredible run: two NCHSAA 4A State Championships in four seasons as head coach — 2018 and 2021. The 2021 team also captured the conference and Eastern Regional championships on its way to another state title.

But Zach’s impact can’t be measured by championships alone. During his time with the program, he helped develop more than 40 athletes who went on to play at the collegiate level, continuing to invest in their development even after high school.

Today, we’re fortunate to have Coach Zach pouring that same knowledge, experience and passion into the next generation of athletes here at SWSA.

Coach Zach, this one is incredibly well deserved. Congratulations on officially taking your place in the Fuquay-Varina High School Hall of Fame! We are proud to have you as part of the SWSA family.

This week’s Softball Swing Lab filled up and the waitlist kept growing, so we’re opening a second Wednesday session from 7:00–8:00 PM to accommodate more hitters this week.

And with the response we’ve had already, we’re also adding Monday Swing Lab from 7:00–8:00 PM starting September 14.

No Monday class September 7 for Labor Day.

We’re keeping each group small, so if you want in on one of the new spots, go ahead and grab it.

College recruiting is confusing enough without trying to figure it all out on your own.

We’re bringing Matt Ellsworth back to SWSA on Saturday, September 26 for our College Recruiting Seminar for baseball and softball athletes and their families.

Matt is an experienced college coach and recruiting coordinator and will break down:

Common recruiting myths
The different divisions and athletic associations
What the recruiting process actually looks like
What athletes should be doing at different stages
And plenty of time for questions from players and parents

1:00–2:00 | Juniors & Seniors

Whether your athlete is just starting to think about playing in college or already in the middle of the recruiting process, this is a really good opportunity to get straightforward information and ask questions.

Softball Swing Lab is our NEW small-group hitting class designed to help players better understand their swing and make the adjustments needed to become more efficient, consistent, and confident at the plate.

With a maximum of 6 hitters per session, we’re able to break the swing all the way down, identify what each athlete does well, and fine-tune the specific movements that can help her get the most out of her swing. A major focus of the class is not just teaching players what to do, but helping them understand how and WHY their swing works so they can make better adjustments on their own.

All skill levels are welcome. Players will be grouped by age and experience as needed so instruction can remain appropriate and challenging for each athlete. As participation grows, our goal is to consistently offer additional class times and more specialized groups.

Classes are led by Coach Tisha and Coach Heather and are limited to 6 hitters per session to keep instruction individualized while still allowing athletes to learn and compete in a small-group environment.

First classes start Wednesday, September 2 from 7-8 and continue weekly until Thanksgiving!
