Electric bikes:
Myrons started back in 1988 installing a Palmer electric trike kit for a customer. We have evolved over the years. Back in the early days electric bikes & e-bike kits were only a niche market for us. During this time we sold brands such as Zap Worlds friction drive electric bikes, Electric Transportation Center or {ETC} among others we saw company's come and go like the EV Warrior and Lee Iaccoca's E-Bike. By the late 1990's We started to sell the Currie line of bikes and scooters but the industry was still using heavy SLA battery's the bikes were heavy and had limited range. Electric bike sales were no match for the thousands of gas and electric scooters being sold by us. We started to see a shift around 2007 the scooter industry had peeked and was in a downward free fall. We were looking around at the power sports industry and saw a lot of products coming out of China such as pocket bikes, mini quads, go karts, and scooters that were not the best of quality and wanted to distance our-self's from this tidal wave flooding on to our shores. We started looking around and saw more company's showing up to shows like Interbike* with more innovation and better battery technology for the electric bike market.
2008 was a big year for electric bikes prior to this year most manufactures were using sealed lead acid or nickel medal battery's it was at this time we started to see lithium battery's showing up on E-Bikes and the race was on, Over the last 5 years electric bikes have been the fastest growing segment of the bicycle industry to give some prospective in 1998 only one company showed up to Interbike* with an electric bike by 2008 there were around 30 this year 2012 saw 76 different booths with ether a line of e-bikes or a supplier to the e-bike industry, and this I would have to say is only half of what is being offered right now in the USA that puts the number at over 150 company trying to sell you an electric bike or electric bike kit for your bike. Here comes the bad news I'll bet you there are only about 200 retail dealers nation wide that stock an electric bike that you can go in and test ride. You the consumer more than likely have to do your research online witch is very one dimensional. So what to do if you aren't any where near a retail store. Where you can test ride some E-bikes. You have to read reviews and do your homework before you make a purchase. Then take a chance on a bike you have shipped to your home of office. Good luck. Here at Myrons Extreme Machines our in store sale's have grown to over 300 electric bikes sold in 2011 and we are on track to sell 500 in 2012 this dose not include our online sales of witch we are proud to say in the last two years only one bike had been returned by a customer. How have we been able to keep such a good track record? Simple we will not ship out an electric bike, trike or kit until we have called you and gone over everything on the bike with you. What it will and wont do. We want to make sure the bike you are ordering is the right fit for each individual. We stock a total of 12 different brands and over 50 floor models to choose from making us one of the largest retail stores in the nation to sell electric bikes,trikes,and kits. We even stock an electric motorized trailer.
