They pride themselves in providing a memorable and safe trip for all guests and other S**o River users.

⏱️New off season hours⏱️

As the summer comes to an end and members of our staff head back to school, there will be some changes to our fall hours of operation.

We will be open five days a week and closed for two through September. Please call our office or visit our website to make reservations to ensure availability.

The first week of October we will be closed for Fryeburg Fair Parking. If you are planning going, we are only a short 3 minute walk to the fairgrounds!

✨Come kayaking with me on the S**o River… Again!✨

This time I did the 7 mile trip from Canal Bridge to Walker’s Bridge. This section takes 2.5-3 hours of straight paddle time plus any time you spend in the beaches.

This section is great for people with some experience with a canoe or kayak who are looking for a little bit longer trip. There are more rocks and fallen trees to keep an eye out for along this route, but still plenty of beaches to stop at to play or set up camp.

👚 New T-Shirt Drop! 👚

This year we decided on two options- our popular map on the back design in two bright and two darker colors and a brand new scenic river design in three pastel colors.

All new shirt sizes range from Small to 2XL. We also have a select few of previous designs from last year in limited sizes.

Come kayaking with us on the S**o River!

Swans Falls to Canal Bridge is our shortest trip at 3.8 miles taking roughly 1.5-2 hours of paddling time (plus any stops you make along the way!).

This route is perfect for beginner paddlers, families with kids who want to spend time playing on the sandy beaches, or anyone looking for a simple and scenic adventure.

We have some retired Old Town and Discovery canoes and Necky Kayaks from our rental fleet for sale. Although they are used, they all are in good shape and have plenty of adventures left in them.

Perfect for anyone who is looking for boats to have uppta camp, want their own equipment instead of renting year after year, or is ready to embark on a new adventure!

All canoes and kayaks are $300.

In 1971 Prudy Westerberg ran a gift shop outside her family home in Fryeburg, Maine. She and her husband, Fred, had a canoe and decided to rent it out to visitors to use on the S**o River.

It was such a hit, the next year Fred, Prudy, and their business partner bought more canoes plus a kayak. In 1972 S**o River Canoe & Kayak was officially founded.

For 55 years, not much has changed. Inventory grew and as they became more popular tubes started to be available for rent, but most everything else stayed the same. Prudy still owns and runs SRCK with the help of her daughters, Beth and Chrissy. Reservations are taken by hand with pen and paper over the phone. And customers are greeted by the family dogs.

As our 2026 season starts up, we have decided to enter the modern age and offer online reservations. You can still call the office at 207-935-2369 or go to our website www.sacorivercanoe.com to book now!
