Support the Fruitport Equestrian Team: Become a "Trojan Horse" Sponsor!

The Fruitport Equestrian Team is a self-funded club sport competing in District 9 of the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association (MIHA). This season, our dedicated student-athletes and their incredible equine partners—our Trojan Horses—will compete at the Ludington County Fairgrounds on September 12, 13, and 19. Our team showcases skills across diverse disciplines, including Western, Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat, Trail, Ranch Riding, Jumping, Showmanship, and Gymkhana.

Since 1986, our program has fostered youth development and captured numerous District, Regional, and State titles. However, because we receive zero financial backing from the school district, we rely 100% on community partnerships, fundraisers, and donations to keep competitive equestrian sports accessible to local families.

This fan-based sponsorship directly helps cover a specific horse's expenses for the competitive season. When you sponsor a horse, you join an exclusive fan club and receive:

Horse Bio: An introductory email featuring your sponsored horse's story.

Official Photo: A digital "Trojan Horse Sponsor" photo of your horse.

Barn Visits: Two 30-minute interactive visits to brush, feed, and spend time and take picture with your horse.

Social Media Feature: A photo of you and your horse featured on our official page.

Season Stats: Regular updates on the points your horse earns throughout the competitive season.

A great show for a good cause.

Please mark July 18 & 19 on your horse show calendar. Saturday the 18th will be a benefit horse show for Sammi Jo Bateson at the Ludington fairgrounds. . Sunday the 19th will be a low-cost clinic sponsored by District 9. More details will be coming soon. The clinic will be open to both MIHA and 4-H riders. Slots will be on a first come first served bases. Anyone wanting to help out with this clinic please contact Jo Ann Kosanic. We are looking for both knowledgeable horse people and general help. Participants can choose one or both days.

2026 equestrian team meeting is this Wednesday at Fruitport high school art room at 5:30. If anyone is interested in being on the team this year it’s a required meeting. All possibly new riders bring your parents- this includes students wanting to be grooms. All students must have experience with horses, be involved with a riding lesson program - prospective riders show experience and must have their own horse or be leasing a horse.
