This time of year always seems to carry a lot of nostalgia of previous hunts, fishing trips, and enjoying the stories told of previous generations.
It was last October that we lost our sweet sister way too young. It put a lot of things into perspective for us and reframed just how much we enjoy doing things we love with those we love.
This year's elk hunt will now be one of those stories and memories cemented in family lore for us Orullian boys. It was only fitting that we crossed paths with this majestic beast when all 4 of us brothers were together, and our plus one, brother-in-law Steven James with Lone Ridge Outfitters. The only thing that could have been better was to have the old man there with us, but then again he may not have taken too well to the almost 4 mile pack-out. Either way, what an experience! While the aches and pains will soon wear off, the memories that were created over this last weekend will have a deep and lasting impression.
