Internal vs. External Focus: What's More Effective for Motor Skill Learning?
According to Dr. Jared Porter, overwhelming evidence from motor learning and motor control research suggests that an external focus, which means focusing on the desired result of the movement, is more effective than an internal focus, which means focusing on body movements.
While there may be some cases where the difference between internal and external focus is not clear, the scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports the use of an external focus in all situations. So, if you want to improve your motor skill learning and performance, focus externally on the desired outcome rather than internally on body movements.
