It enhanced my love for dance. I love the structure and discipline. I’ve seen it save dancers in high school when they thought they would never find a place. Drill Team can change lives - it did mine. It went from something I did in high school to a passion. I started teaching dance at age 17. I owe it all to an incredible family and teacher - Julie Tisdale Penrose and her sweet mama, Patsy Tisdal
e, who is now with our Lord. They believed in me, fostered my talent, and gave me the confidence I needed to continue in dance. I love dance - but there is something special about Drill Team. Drill Team is so much more than performing. The respect you learn to have for your peers and peer leaders, responsibility, time management (early is on time and on time is late), and learning to work as a team are all parts of drill team that can shape you as a person. You carry all these lessons with you throughout life. But the performing - oh the performing, is AMAZING!! When you see a perfectly synced kick line, a contemporary that takes your breath away, or a pom that wows the crowd, you may not have a clue what is behind that. It’s count by count cleaning. It’s striving for perfection. It’s loving what you’re doing when you hit the floor. It’s loving who you are with when you take the floor! There is passion and artistry that is unmatched. Drill Team - it’s not just something you do. It’s a way of life. One of the best joys thus far is bringing my daughter into the drill team world at a very early age. She was literally born into it. I was a drill team director and cheer coach when she was born. She attended HTE Camp in the womb, and as a baby. Jeffrey would carry her around and show her off to teams. She would sit, and smile, surrounded by silver metallic poms, as she watched the dancers practice. She started dancing before she was 2 years old. She was saluting on the field at age 4. She is now on her own team and I’m so proud of her. I want her to have an amazing drill team experience. She has seen the best of the best. I want it to be the greatest thing she remembers from high school. And that’s why “The Drill Team Specialists” is starting. We want to give you and your team a great year with show-stopping dances, second to none routine cleaning (even if we didn’t choreograph it), and train hopefuls so they can be part of your family.
