The City Pool's summer has been off to a busy start. But we want to take some time to recognize a staff member who's top tier performance has stuck out amongst all the chaos!

This week's GOTW is Adrianna 🤩

As a second year lifeguard with the City, she has comeback as if she never left - taking initiative, leading by example, and always willing to be a helping hand! 🙌

Adrianna has shown that she has what it takes to be a true Aquatics PROfessional🏊

🗓️ Opening Weekend Hours:
Saturday, May 23 & Sunday, May 24: 1 PM – 7 PM
Monday, May 26 (Memorial Day): 🕛 12 PM – 9:30 PM
🎉 FREE entry all day on Memorial Day!

With summer right around the corner, we're gearing up for another season of our Junior Lifeguard Program! 🚨😎

Registration is NOW OPEN for participants ages 11–15!

🌊✨ What to expect ✨🌊
🛟 30+ hours of hands-on training, learning, and skill-building
🛟 Set schedule every Monday/Wednesday/Friday
🛟 Volunteer opportunities beyond scheduled sessions
🛟 Real-world experience shadowing certified Lifeguards
🛟 CPR & First Aid certification through the American Red Cross upon completion

📅 Choose from two summer sessions:
Session 1: June 1 – June 26 (Mon/Wed/Fri)
Session 2: July 6 – July 31 (Mon/Wed/Fri)

💲 Cost: $125 per participant
Includes: Official Jr. Lifeguard shirt, hip pack, whistle/lanyard, CPR mask, and certification fees.

👫Group Lessons – Offering various levels to help kids build confidence and skills in the water. The best option for kids needing to improve their swim skills!
- Available for children aged 2 -12yo

👶Parent/Child Classes – Learn essential water safety and swimming skills with your little one as they make their “first splash”!
- Available for children aged 6mo – 2yo

🧑‍🦳Adult Swim Lessons – It's never too late to improve your swimming technique, whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your strokes!

🚨Lifeguard certification courses are open for registration!!🚨

If you're looking to work this summer as a lifeguard, the City of Friendswood offers several certification (and recertification) opportunities.

Classes are $250 per participant - course fee waived for any City of Friendswood employees 😎

All participants must complete an online learning portion prior to the first day of class, pass a prerequisite swim test**, and attend the entirety of the class.
**Prerequisite swim test will be completed on the first day of class and consists of: 200 yard continuous swim, and 2 minute water tread, submerge 7-10 feet to retrieve and swim with a 10lb object. 🏊🏊

But we wanted to take an extra moment to recognize those closest to us and our community.

This group of young rescuers do more than watch the water.
⛑ From constant training to ensure they're prepared for any emergency...
🧐 Maintaining a vigilant eye to keep danger at bay...
🌞 Bearing the brutal Texas summer heat...
🏊 Teaching hundreds of swimming lessons...
🗣 Countless whistle blasts...
🚨 And even a handful of water rescues! 🚨

It's all in an effort to create a safe space for our community to swim, play, and relax!

💦🐾The Dog Days of Summer are here!🐾💦

Time to register for our annual Pool PAW-ty 🙌

This year's event will be on Saturday, August 16th from 10am - 12pm at the Friendswood City Pool 📍

Pricing: $3 residents | $5 non-residents per pup

Event rules and activities:
💧 1 human 18 years and older must accompany each dog. (Ex: 2 dogs equals 2 humans ages 18 and older.)

💧 All humans are responsible for their dog's behavior & potty break cleanups.
💧 All dogs must have current vaccinations to participate. *Rabies vaccinations will be verified on-site for entry.*
💧 Max 75 dogs in the facility at a time.

💦 Prizes for Best Costume and Coolest Tricks (arrive dressed up for judging / tricks contest at 11am)
