Upper Yough Employment Requirements:
3 guest to 1 guide boat limit. 2 season experience required. CPR/Advanced First Aid required course. Recertifications can be facilitated if your certs are expiring. Swiftwater rescue cert will be given priority. CDL liscenced is a plus. Guiding on the Upper Youghoigheny River in Friendsville MD is no easy float! Class V rated, 10 mile stretch with 27 continuous rapids ranging from class III to V. Guaranteed water from the Deep Creek Lake Brookfield hydropower facility April to October. Countless routes to learn and constantly changing level depending on rainfall. High water season April to July, standard hydro-release levels August-October. We are in search of experience Class V guides to guide rafts AND experienced Class V kayakers willing to become safety boaters.

Upper Yough sound like too much for you...start on the Class II-III Cheat Narrows or the more mild Class V Cheat Canyon. Once you master the moves you can start training on the Upper several days a week.
