A 1937 graduate of Central Union High School, Hank Bocchini Sr. was the founder and owner/operator of Hank’s Swank Par-3 Golf Course from its inception. Initially operating for twenty years at the corner of Shields and Maple Avenues in Fresno, it wasn’t until 1940 when Hank’s Swank moved to the corners of Fowler and Olive avenues. Always an entrepreneur and a lover of life, Hank had many passions

in life, but his first loves were always his wife of of 64 years, Mary Jane, and golf. An ambidextrous golfer, he gave many golf lessons, and no matter how late in the day or night, he always had time to help a fellow golfer in need. During the 80s and 90s he created a clothing business, which designed and sold golf knickers for men and women all over the world. A true family man, Hank spent one week a year for many summers vacationing in Santa Cruz with Mary Jane and their three young sons. They would’ve stayed longer, but Hank was always eager to get back to his little corner of Fresno and his cherished golf course. Whether you are on the driving range or practicing your putt on the greens, you’ll feel Hank’s presence in your every swing.

If you see the guy in the hard hat frequently, he’s not following you, he’s just trying to keep it green!

PSA: As we head into the summer months, there’s a good chance you will see us watering the greens.

The grass that you putt on is a coastal grass that starts to die when the temps hit 90. In order to keep them green, we have to keep them cooled off. Unfortunately, it’s not always at the most convenient times!
