Today Midwest Thunder posted the official points results for the 2026 season. Weā€™re very proud to announce that out of 31 drivers in my Heavy Honda class, I finished 9th in points for the 2026 series! To be listed in the top 10 with drivers who not only race at the regional level but at the national level as well feels like an accomplishment. To fully understand why weā€™re so proud of this, you have to understand the wild ride this 6-race series has been for us this summer, so hereā€™s a brief recap:
We used the Kalamazoo race as our drop.
Mac-O-Chee was the race that I was DQā€™d because Dad touched the tail cone under red flag(?) when I had a crazy fast car going from last to 1st in my heat race. There was so much controversy about this call, but ultimately it is what it is.
Kokomo we missed both the transfer spot for the A main and the opportunity to get in the A as the ā€œX carā€ due to the same car losing their race receiver on the track (twice - 2 different races). šŸ¤Æ
Luck of the draw, I started last in 3 of the 5 heat races and finished top 3 in all of our heats but one.
I transferred straight from the heat to the A main in 3 of the 5 races and was the X car for the other 2.
We are so grateful for everyone who helps us race, but especially our engine builder, my Grandpa Terry. We are grateful for all you do and Iā€™m especially grateful to be learning from the best.

Saturday was the 6th and final race for the Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series.

Heat: started 7th (last) - finished 5th
(After heat we found right rear shock was bent!)
C Main: started 1st - finished 1stšŸ
B Main: started 7th, was up to 3rd at one point and felt we had a least a 2nd place car, but a combination driver error on an unfamiliar track cost a couple of spots, finished 5th.
A Main - X car, didnā€™t get in.

The day brought highs and lows as did the entire MWT series. This likely brings an end to our outdoor race season as we have a busy fall and a lot we want to do on both cars to be ready for our favorite seriesā€¦the Buckeye Indoor Winternationals starting in November!

Today we had a really solid day at the Midwest Thunder race at Buckeye Quarter Midget Racing.

Heat race - started 1st / finished 1stšŸ

Feature - started 3rd: after a messy race (for us anyway) and getting caught up in several cautions (one that sent me to the tail (10th)). I managed to work back up to 3rd where I ultimately finished. Weā€™re very happy with a podium finish at a big race against some of the toughest competitors in the region and proud of the work that got us there.
Next up: the last Midwest Thunder of the season in Toledo on October 3rd!

Race recap: Sunday 9/13/26 at Buckeye Quarter Midget Racing

Sorry weā€™re lateā€¦
This race was primarily to get the car dialed in for this weekā€™s Midwest Thunder race.
In the heat race, I started 3rd - finished 2nd.
Feature- started 2nd - finished 2nd.
I fell back to 4th at one point but with 2 laps to go I was able to take 2nd where I finished. We gained valuable information that we hope works to our advantage this weekend.

Raced our 3rd Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series event this weekend in Kokomo, Indiana.

This was our first time racing this track, but hopefully not our last. Known for its long straightaways, it was a lot of fun and I really liked it.

The car was fast. We are gratified by those who noticed, commented and were cheering us on. Once again our results donā€™t reflect what we were capable of.
After leading the majority of the heat,toward the end of the race a couple of cautions and the wrong gear led me to a 3rd place finish (B main).

B main started 2nd, had a great start from the outside taking the lead on the first lap. However - unfortunate circumstances and many long cautions and delays resulted in the race timing out after only 12 laps, leaving me as the ā€œXā€ car for the A main.
Had the race not timed out, weā€™re confident we wouldā€™ve made the A.

We continue to learn and persevere despite disappointments, itā€™s all shaping me as a driver and our team and we will only continue to improve.

We enjoyed the weekend. Iā€™m so grateful that Grandpa Terry was able to share this experience with us.

Weā€™d like to extend a huge thank you to Kokomo Quarter Midget Club for being such wonderful hosts this weekend. Especially their club president who went above and beyond all weekend long. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.
