Raced our 3rd Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series event this weekend in Kokomo, Indiana.

This was our first time racing this track, but hopefully not our last. Known for its long straightaways, it was a lot of fun and I really liked it.

The car was fast. We are gratified by those who noticed, commented and were cheering us on. Once again our results don’t reflect what we were capable of.
After leading the majority of the heat,toward the end of the race a couple of cautions and the wrong gear led me to a 3rd place finish (B main).

B main started 2nd, had a great start from the outside taking the lead on the first lap. However - unfortunate circumstances and many long cautions and delays resulted in the race timing out after only 12 laps, leaving me as the “X” car for the A main.
Had the race not timed out, we’re confident we would’ve made the A.

We continue to learn and persevere despite disappointments, it’s all shaping me as a driver and our team and we will only continue to improve.

We enjoyed the weekend. I’m so grateful that Grandpa Terry was able to share this experience with us.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Kokomo Quarter Midget Club for being such wonderful hosts this weekend. Especially their club president who went above and beyond all weekend long. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.

Had a good day at Mac-O-Chee QMRA, there were 7 cars in Heavy Honda!

Heat race, started 2nd - finished 1st
Feature, started 1st - finished 1st🏁

It feels good knowing that we’ve got the car pretty dialed in at this track.

Next up - Midwest Thunder .25 Quarter Midget Racing Series at Kokomo, Indiana on Saturday, August 22nd!

Race recap: Unfortunate circumstances in today’s feature. But I had a really good car today that took me from 6th (last) in my heat to 2nd and from 4th to nearly 3rd in the feature. The car started to bike a little then a caution came out and things went south, I finished 6th. Since the car was biking I did not warm the tires under the yellow flag and going into the first corner when taking the green flag the car pushed causing me to lose two spots. Overall solid day just wish we could’ve finished a little better in the feature.
Always enjoy the regional races and the larger car count. A few local races coming up before the next Midwest Thunder in Kokomo, Indiana in August! Stay tuned!

Sunday Miami Valley Quarter Midget Racing Association race recap:
Heavy Honda Heat race:
I was excited to see a 7 car field in this class for a club race (8 including 1 senior Honda).
Started 5th bumped and spun the car in front of me going for 3rd. Fairly, I was sent to the tail where I made my way through the field and finished 1st. 🏁

Heavy Honda Feature:
Started 1st. Made some minor changes after the heat race that didn’t work out.
Leader for half of the race and ultimately finished 2nd. 🥈

It was a good day overall!
