Some students become part of your school. Others become part of its history.

He first walked through our doors at just 6 years old. We’ve had the privilege of watching him grow from a little boy into the young man he is today — and now, after years of dedication, discipline, perseverance, and hard work, he has earned his Black Sash.

This accomplishment holds an especially special place in our hearts. He is the first teenager in our school’s history to achieve Black Sash — and only the 5th student from our school to reach this level. That is an incredible achievement, and one we are immensely proud of.
And to make this moment even more meaningful, he shares this journey with his dad, who is also a Black Sash from our school. Seeing father and son standing together, both having earned their Black Sashes through their own journeys, is a beautiful reminder that Kung Fu is about so much more than the techniques we learn. It creates lifelong bonds, builds character, and leaves a legacy that can be passed from one generation to the next.

Now, as he heads off to UC Santa Cruz to begin his first year of college, we find ourselves feeling both incredibly proud and a little emotional. Watching a student who started with us at six years old reach this milestone — and now begin an exciting new chapter — is one of the greatest rewards of being a part of their journey.
