Freeport Trailhead of Lake Wobegon Trail

We are in need of additional active board members to help manage the Lake Wobegon Trails Association. I have been involved with the association since the early 2000s and plan to retire by November 15th, 2024.

We are a great organization! The organization’s mission is to promote the Lake Wobegon Trails, the communities and businesses along the trails and to support Stearns County Parks in their efforts to maintain and improve the trails.

We have 3 successful events that have been around for a long time. The Caramel Roll Ride has been around for 25 years, and the Lady Slipper Nature Ride and the Caramel Apple Rides have been around for 13 years each. Please check it out and see how you can be a part of the trails association.

Hey everyone... we need your help! Please post trail conditions as you use the trail to help others know if the can use the trail for cycling and roller blading!

I've been getting calls, emails and texts asking about trail conditions... everyone is anxious to get out and use the trails!

Please share what the conditions are on the sections of the trail that you are using!

Do you have a some photos from along the Freeport section of the trail?

How about sharing them right here! We'd love to see pictures from the trail ... whether it's pictures of people out using the trail, animals/birds on the trail or maybe just a beautiful scene for the trail.

Great side trip off the Lake WobegonTrail... just a 1.5 mViles north and east of Freeport on County Road 39. Go north on County Road 11 and turn right on County Road 39 and Hemker Park & Zoo will be on your right. Great place to take your kids and grandkids!

A drive along County Road 39 near Freeport is about as rural as it comes. That's until silos and farm fields give-way to zebras and giraffes.
