Checking my watch to figure out where time goes. The chapter of my life working as a trainer with Flex Fitness Freeport ended a few weeks ago and what a whirlwind my life has been since. But you can still find me here at Crestview’s Flex in the wee hours of the morning getting s**t done. Because no matter how crazy my life might get, workouts ground and stabilize me.

How have your workouts been lately?! For all my Freeport clients and gym friends, I miss you all dearly 😭 Let me know how your fitness journey has been doing!

My heart hurts. I don't want to leave you all! Unfortunately the military doesn't care if I want to keep training in Florida or not. Whoever replaces me is one lucky duck. Freeport friends, spread the word. It has been an honor to be part of the Flex Family.

…and just like that, warm weather is back. As you start busting your bathing suits out and seeing people on social media wearing theirs, please remember that we all have “flaws,” loose skin and stretch marks, love handles and scars, dimples and wrinkles. The body in the first picture more often looks like the body in the second. And that’s ok. Don’t compare your body or progress to the posed, edited pictures of someone else. We all have imperfections. Some people are just better at hiding them than others. Remember that.

I am sad to announce that my last day of personal training through Flex Fitness Freeport will be May 31st. As most of you know, my husband is active duty Air Force. We recently found out that we are going to be stationed at a base somewhere outside of Florida.

Outside of officially making this announcement, I wanted to take a minute to thank you all. Every client, every Flex member I have had the pleasure of seeing and chatting with every day, you all made my time here in Florida special. Thank you for trusting me to train you and to take care of your gym.

I also want to thank my Flex Family. I can't thank Dan and Sally enough for taking a chance and asking me to work for them. I've learned a lot about gym ownership and training from you both. I also have to thank my fellow trainers who not only were mentors to me but friends.

Though I have spoken to all of my current clients who may have sessions affected by the move, please don't hesitate to message me if you have any questions. I want to support you all in your fitness goals the best that I can even when I am no longer in Florida. Though my in-person Flex personal training time is ending for now, I will be offering online training as well as standalone programs if anyone finds that helpful. Thank you to everyone who has already expressed interest in this (both out of state friends and current clients).

As I said, please let me know if you have any questions or if you are interested in getting a workout program or online training from me. I would also be more than happy to help you get set up for personal training with my fellow Freeport trainer and gym manager Denver! Anything I can do to help, let me know!

Thank you all again

Whoever said girls don’t sweat they glisten has never seen me after a leg day. I apologize to the clients I had today that had to be within smelling distance of me. Leg days get me every time and no amount of shirt changing and body spray can save you all from the stank.

Look what dedicating just 2 days a week can do for your body! Despite working and attending school, Hannah made time to train at the gym with the goal of toning and tightening up. And she did just that! She showed up every day we had a session scheduled, did the work, and got results. You don’t have to be in here 7 days a week to achieve positive changes for your body and mind and Hannah is proof of that!

She says that outside of the visible changes of more definition in her abs, arms, back, chest, and legs, her confidence has improved. She also says she has more energy.

So if you’ve been discouraged because you can’t dedicate as much time to working out as you’d like or if you’ve felt overwhelmed thinking about starting your gym journey, know that any amount of time, whether it’s 1 day a week or 6, is making positive changes in your life. ❤️

Remember, when it comes to working out, consistency really is key! Routines are your best friend. You don’t have to run a thousand miles or eat nothing but salad to see results. Stay the course, keep making smarter nutritional choices, and keep moving more and you WILL see results. Happy Friday!

CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER❗️
Who you got? The light side: Cutting? Or the dark side: Bulking?
Which do you prefer when it comes to working out? The cutting phase where you work on lowering body fat specifically? Or the bulking phase where you focus on building muscle mass?

Regardless of your goals, progress takes time. Cutting, bulking, increasing strength, hitting PRs, getting over plateaus, increasing cardiovascular endurance, all of it takes time.

For reference, the “light side” was taken a little over a year ago. I’m nowhere near where I want to be and I feel discouraged by my progress more often than not. But this is one of the biggest reasons y’all hear me say “take the progress pic.” Side by side pics can show us progress and victories that the mirror and the scale can’t.

When people ask why I prefer working out at the gym vs at home…this is a big reason why.

Now don’t get me wrong. I LOVE my girls. And being able to model good habits for them by working out where they can see, join in, or even make up their own moves is a HUGE plus to sweating it out at home. I have many fond memories working out at home with my girls by my side.

But…it also means constant disruptions. It means being unable to “lose myself” in the workout. For me, workouts are as good on my mental health as my physical health. But it’s hard to reap the mental benefits when I’m feeling all the mom guilt if I snap at my kids because they interrupt. It’s hard to walk away feeling refreshed when your groove keeps getting interrupted or questions need answered or fights need broken up. So moms, don’t feel guilty for going to the gym. Don’t feel guilty for preferring that time alone over the workouts you attempt to do with the kids running about. Everyone, including your kiddos, are better off when mom gets time ALONE to work on herself from time to time. And it makes the times you do work out with your kids that much more special.
