Not a birthday guy. Never was. Not against folks celebrating themselves.

Just my way. Today one of our Warriors has a birthday. He is loved like a Son, like most at the Freeport PAL BC.

This kid is one of us, like Patrick, Like Seanie, like all
those that grinded.

He was mentored by Patrick Day and nurtured by his Champion Mother Desi. A Mom that totally lives for her Son.

Happy Birthday Reese. He earned his stripes unlike some others. I love him like a Son and my Son loves him like a Brother.

This is who we are. Reese front and center after the Freeport PAL BC Circuit Plyo course. We give so Christ will see. Thanks be to God.

Mother & Son National Champions. 25 years apart.

Freeport PAL BC after 30 years continues the consistency.

We will not tolerate phony bolonies that associate themselves with frauds. That only care about themselves and never give back.

Tell your story walking. For us it’s all about the integrity and saving these youngsters from what can derail their lives. It’s God’s assignment for us.

Our program was built on a lot of leg work, negotiation, doing the things needed to get our space. Raising funds, paying insurance and quite frankly putting in daily volunteer hours that could have been hours earning money for our families.

Instead we find those that think they can piggy back on that commitment and think they are entitled to our hard work.

Having legit certifications, keeping the liability secure and making relationships with politicians and finding that help is a constant.

No freeos for the people that don’t do a thing to help that.

Thank you Village of Freeport for donating our space. This is not a town program. It is the Freeport Police Athletic League Boxing Club founded by yours truly.

Thank you Freeport Chamber of Commerce for naming this gym the Joe Higgins Boxing Gym and giving it solely to me and our loyal volunteers.

Peace and grace even to the haters that are embarrassing themselves. Continued pray for you. Go do what we did and start your own program.

FYI: It’s not easy and no one will just give you stuff. You have to be committed and earn it.

Freeport PAL BC adds two more Champions to the NY Tournament. That’s a total of 4 Champs and a runner up.

Anania Padayin 143lbs wins vs his teammate Donovan Butler with the unanimous decision. He has now secured the Junior Olympic tournament and the NY tournament.

What an awesome bout. Both these kids entertained and showed nothing but class. Donovan will be attending Syracuse University this September and give college boxing a try.
Anania will continue as a senior in HS. He will wrestle with his School Team and return once the season ends.

Ikenna Oyoke 176lb wins with a split decision and secures the NY tournament championship. Now he will go back to college in Binghamton and continue training.

George Duton 119lb loses a decision. He will be back Monday to continue his learning curve. Congrats to his opponent. Close bout.

Zion Joseph 176/187lbs wins a split decision vs his very worthy opponent. Zion is a heavy fi**ed kid that will improve. His attitude is just perfect. Just a bit more conditioning.

The Friday night circuit course/plyo/ strength and conditioning crew.

Winning is contagious. The Freeport PAL BC has been packed to the gills each and everyday. So many USA Boxing registered Athlete’s.

When those that commit win it brings out the best in others that want what they have.

This has been our history. Develop youngsters from the bottom up. Be patient, and trust the process.

Not like the pro trainer of the year that gets the kid when they are good already. OH well.

Boxing is pure with us. I’m not here to compare or say this was better than that.

I’ll say our continuity and consistency has been golden from day 1.

Yah, Wisdom is earned. Not pay to play here.

Tonight these kids worked extremely hard in this humidity. They want to be like the winners they train with.

Give me all the X’s and O’s and I’ll tell you it’s useless without the one who can motivate and press the buttons.

In a class by ourselves. It’s an assignment from God. Saving the attitude of our American Youth. It takes a village. We are that village.

Reese Mistretta. Freeport PAL BC. Accomplished local, regional, national & international amatuer. Winning on all levels.

We are ready for our Pro debut. I will be searching for a good fit. Kid could fight any style, he has guts and skills and an awesome look. If you can manage and move him, contact us. He can sell tickets. Really a promoters dream.

We would have loved some respect from USA Boxing and received an invite to camp, but Reese probably would have upset the apple cart. Just the same, let them figure out why they can’t win medals vs the top countries.

It’s not the kids.

I wish every kid that walks up those stairs well. Follow your dreams. Don’t let the snubs affect your potential.

It becomes motivation to go be great. All Day Everyday.

Donovan Butler 143b Youth Novice gets the unanimous decision in last weeks Semi Finals at the NY Fight Club.

He will be attending Syracuse University this fall. He will try out for the boxing team and compete in the collegiate league.

I would say he earned his way after winning his first two bouts and now competing in the NY Tournament finals this Saturday at Brick House Boxing gym in Suffolk.

His efforts earned him his spot in the finals but he will have to fight his teammate, this year’s Junior Olympic novice Champ. Anania Pendayin. This will be the fight of the night.

This is not the first time Freeport vs Freeport is in the finals. In fact over the years we probably had to do this a dozen times. A good problem to have.

I will not work either corner. Those I assign have to remain silent during the bout but can coach in between rounds. Each boxer deserves instructions to win. We also limit it because we dont want one to think we want one over the other.

Freeport has a total of 5 boxers competing this Saturday. This is how we do it.

We at the Freeport PAL BC are very grateful for the school supplies donation.

Thank you Matt from the Long Island Boxing Charities. This is the second year you brought us a ton of supplies to distribute to our kids.

Throughout August Freeport PAL BC will be accepting any school supply donations Mon thru Thursday 4-7pm & Sat 11am-1pm. We distribute them to the local kids in need.

The look on their faces when they are handed new supplies is so much fun to witness. Some run home to show their Mothers.
