Wow!!! What a great first day. It kinda got away from me. I can add more tomorrow but the most exciting part is big congrats to Bentley with his 6th place finish and Henry and his 2nd place finish!!!

Congrats to Henry Koepsell 2nd, Estella Steinert 3rd, Bentley Wittenberg 3rd, and Claire Speed 1st. Curtis Duralia 1st, Jayce Karmasin 2nd, Fritz Schanen 1st, Dominick Scholz 2nd, Jackson Verley 2nd, Peter Warmenhoven 3rd, Ryker Faber 3rd. They are qualified for State and will wrestle next weekend in Madison. Great job to everyone who wrestled today.

Congratulations to Sterling Schanen on his 5th-place finish at State!

Sterling went 4–1 in the tournament, with his only loss coming in the final 20 seconds to the eventual state champion — a tremendous showing on the biggest stage.

Ozaukee Trivia: He is the first freshman boy from Ozaukee to qualify for State since Cole Large and Taz Gottsacker in 2011, and is one of only 10 Ozaukee wrestlers to ever qualify as a Freshman. He now joins his uncle Dominic as the only freshman boys in Ozaukee history to place at State. Dominic also earned a 5th-place finish back in 1993.

What an outstanding accomplishment — the future is bright! 💪👏
