🥋 CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT — BENEVOLENCE

This week, our students are learning about benevolence — choosing to do good and showing kindness toward others.

On the mats, that means helping a teammate, encouraging someone who’s struggling, welcoming new students, and always being a safe and respectful training partner.

We want our students to understand that being strong isn’t just about what you can do — it’s about how you use your strength to help others. 💪

👉 Challenge for the week: Do something kind for someone without expecting anything in return.

This week, we’re talking about RESPONSIBILITY — learning to own our choices, our actions, and our attitude.

In Jiu-Jitsu, responsibility means:
🥋 Showing up ready to learn
💪 Giving your best effort, even when it’s hard
🤝 Taking care of your teammates
🧹 Respecting the academy and helping keep it clean
🙋 Owning your mistakes instead of making excuses
🏠 Doing what’s expected of you at home and at school — even when no one is watching

Responsibility is doing what needs to be done because you know it’s the right thing to do.

We want our students to become more than great Jiu-Jitsu athletes. We want them to become dependable young men and women who others can count on.

This week we’re talking with our students about two important topics: being present and how we treat others.

Being present means paying attention to the person and moment in front of you. On the mats, that means listening to your coaches, focusing on your partner, and giving your best effort. Off the mats, it means putting distractions aside and showing people that they matter.

We’re also discussing social bullying.

Bullying isn’t always physical. Leaving someone out on purpose, spreading rumors, embarrassing someone, or encouraging others not to be someone’s friend can hurt just as much.

Jiu-Jitsu teaches our students to become stronger—but strength isn’t about making someone else feel small.

Real strength is:
👊 Including others
👊 Standing up for someone
👊 Showing kindness when nobody is watching
👊 Having the courage to do what’s right
👊 Using your strength to help, not hurt

We’re not just working to build better Jiu-Jitsu students.
