Yoga with Mary Richards has worked us hard during the first 5 months of the year, especially Reuben. It's now time for her to share the many benefits of a restorative yoga practice to relieve us from the heat from our environment as well as our tired and achy muscles. Think supported inversions and back extensions.

I made this drawing for Yoga with Mary Richards book, Teach People, Not Poses. Then Mary used this pose as a starting point in her January Asana Lab workshop: Glutes to the Max, adding clamshells with the top leg to challenge our core stability. For more challenge, tie an elastic band above the knees - oh boy!
