The City continues to respond to winter weather impacts and provides the following update on road conditions, facilities, and safety:

Thanks to the sunshine and ongoing treatment efforts, Priority 1 roads are in good condition. City crews continue cutting back snow and cleaning intersections. As temperatures drop this evening, refreezing is likely, and residents should remain alert for frozen pavement and black ice. Please continue to stay off the roads overnight and into early morning to support our crewsโ snow removal efforts.
Public Works crews have actively plowed and treated Priority 2, secondary, and neighborhood roads throughout the day, with operations continuing tonight and into the morning. Crews will make repeated passes on Priority 1 and Priority 2 roads through the evening and early morning hours. With temperatures expected to remain below freezing for several days, salt and treatment will be applied as conditions allow.

All City property parking lots have been cleared. Earlier efforts focused on downtown and City facilities in coordination with Public Facilities crews. Parks staff have revisited trails today; however, smaller trail bridges that cannot accommodate equipment remain snow-covered. The library area has been cleared and will receive additional attention in the morning.

Public Facilities crews, working alongside Parks & Recreation, have begun clearing access to all City facilities. These efforts will continue through the night and into the morning.
Public Works and Parks crews continue winter storm operations using a combination of City equipment and contractor support. Equipment in service includes plow trucks, tractors with plows and buckets, RTVs with plows, a compact tractor with a rotary brush, salt spreaders, and snow blowers. To date, City crews have used 329 tons of rock salt and 5,000 gallons of brine applied pre-storm, with replacement orders placed for additional brine and 350 tons of salt.

Additionally, the Cityโs contractor is assisting City crews with seven pieces of equipment and additional operators, focusing on Priority 1 roads.

Police, Fire, and Rescue services have remained fully operational and have continued responding to calls as normal throughout the storm, with no storm-related injuries or power outages reported.
Residents are urged to continue using caution, particularly this evening and overnight, due to refreezing conditions and the potential for black ice. Please limit travel when possible and allow crews room to operate safely.

โข The Fredericksburg City Government is closed on Tuesday.
โข Fredericksburg City Council meeting is canceled for Tuesday, January 27. The planned meeting agenda will be added to the February 10th City Council meeting.
โข Fredericksburg General District Court, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court and Clerk's Office will be closed Tuesday.
โข Visitor Center is closed Tuesday.
โข Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FXBGO!) will run limited service on Tuesday. Route 10 and Route 11 will run from 10:00am until 3:00pm. The Central building will be closed Tuesday. All the other FXBGO! routes will be canceled Tuesday including the VRE.
โข City Public Works will not collect solid waste or recycling on Tuesday.
โข Belman Road Convenience Center and Residential Area of the Regional Landfill will open at 10am on Tuesday.
โข Fredericksburg City Public Schools are closed on Tuesday.
โข Central Rappahannock Regional Library is closed on Tuesday.
โข Fredericksburg Department of Social Services is closed on Tuesday.
โข Dorothy Hart Community Center is closed on Tuesday.
โข Old Mill Park, Alum Spring Park and Motts Run Reservoir are closed until further notice.
