Let’s talk. A lot of healing is learning how to tell the difference between the healthy discomfort of growth and the warning signs of overexertion.

One asks for presence.
The other asks to be listened to.

Private somatic work can be such a meaningful place to practice that. To come in, listen inward, and notice the difference between the discomfort that comes with real growth and the subtle strain that signals you are pushing beyond what your body can hold well.

What if I asked you…
If you paused to truly listen to what your body is asking for, what story would it tell you?

When you’re used to holding a lot, staying capable, and moving through life from the neck up, it becomes easy to miss the quieter signals coming from the body. A tight chest. A shortened breath. A jaw that never quite softens. A fatigue you keep pushing past because there is still more to do.

But those signals are not random inconveniences. They are information.

The body is often speaking long before we consciously register what is happening. And when we keep overriding those cues, we can lose touch with our actual capacity. What starts as subtle strain can turn into burnout, chronic tension, and emotional fatigue simply because the body has been trying to get our attention for too long.

This is part of why somatic work matters so much to me.

It helps us slow down enough to listen in. To become more honest about what we’re feeling. To notice the difference between the healthy discomfort of growth and the warning signs of overexertion. Because those are not the same.

Growth may ask for presence.
Overexertion asks you to leave yourself behind.

A gentle question to sit with today:
What has my body been trying to tell me that I’ve been too busy being strong to hear?

If you’re coming for an in-person session with me, I wanted to make it a little easier to find the space.

My office is located at 200 W Windcrest St, Suite 202 in Fredericksburg, and since there are a few turns once you arrive, I made this quick walkthrough so you know exactly where to go.

I know arriving somewhere new can sometimes bring a little extra uncertainty, so my hope is that this helps you feel a bit more at ease before you even walk in.

If you have a session booked, I’m looking forward to welcoming you. And if you’ve been curious about private somatic support, this gives you a little glimpse into the space too.

A week of soma yoga, with a special gathering to begin it.

This Sunday, we’ll come together for The Heart Space: Somatic Yoga & Sound at 5:00pm — a deeper evening of support, softness, and restoration.

Then we’ll move into our regular class rhythm on Monday and Wednesday with Morning Soma Yoga, Gentle Soma Yoga, and Tranquil Soma Yoga on Monday evening.

Whether you’re joining for a weekly class or for a more immersive experience this Sunday, I’d love to practice with you.

You can sign up at alisonpoundsyoga.com.

One of the things I care about most in teaching is creating classes that feel approachable, supportive, and sustainable — a place where people can move at the pace that fits their body and season of life.

You do not need to be advanced, flexible, or “good at yoga” to begin. My classes are designed to meet you where you are, whether you’re brand new to this practice, returning after time away, or simply looking for a gentler and more supportive way to move.

I’m so grateful to offer classes in different studio spaces around the Texas Hill Country, and I love getting to create room for people to slow down, reconnect, and keep growing their practice in a way that feels personal and doable.

If you’ve been thinking about coming to class, this is your invitation. There is space for you.

A gentle reminder that The Heart Space is this Sunday. 🤍

If you’ve been craving a space to slow down, soften, and reconnect, this evening was created with that in mind.

We’ll move through somatic yoga, ceremonial cacao + kava, breathwork, heart-centered meditation, and sound healing for a deeply supportive and restorative experience.
