Fueling the Ride: My Approach to Diet & Training 🚴♂️💨
A lot of people ask what my routine looks like to stay strong on the bike. Here is the simple breakdown of what works for me!
Important Reminder: Everyone’s metabolism, body type, and training volume are completely different. What fuels my engine might not work the same for yours—the key is listening to your body and finding your own balance.
1. Dialed-In Training
Consistency is Key: Mixing hard road miles with structured indoor Peloton sessions keeps the legs sharp, power steady, and conditioning high no matter the weather.
2. Smart Fueling & Recovery
On-the-Bike Fuel: High-carb hydration and energy mix (like Maurten), energy bars, and a classic banana keep the tank full on long, demanding rides.
Post-Ride Recovery: Protein shakes (whey isolate blends) and high-protein Greek yogurt bowls loaded with fresh berries and organic granola to rebuild muscle fast.
3. Real, Whole Foods First
Ditch the Junk: Cut way down on boxed/processed foods, sugary sweets, sodas, and heavy beers.
Cook Fresh: Home-cooked meals and using the air fryer make it easy to eat clean without spending hours in the kitchen.
4. Enjoy Life (Balance > Perfection)
Performance nutrition is important, but so is enjoying life. There is nothing wrong with treating yourself to a fresh plate of pasta, a good slice of pizza, or a nice glass of wine with dinner.
The Bottom Line: Keep it simple, eat clean real food, fuel your rides properly, and don't forget to have fun and train hard!
