A parent shared a photo of me with her son who’s autistic and has Down syndrome and wrote about how much he’s grown in the water.

This is why I do what I do.
Because every kid deserves to feel safe, strong, and free in the water.
And moments like this remind me it’s working ❤️❤️ congratulation to GAVIN!

Me and Mr. Oak have worked together before, so there’s already some trust between us. The upset reaction at the beginning? Totally valid — I pulled him away from an activity he was fully engaged in, and he wasn’t thrilled about it.

But watch what happens: despite the initial resistance, he nailed the dive dunk. Mouth closed, body calm, totally composed — and then he just went right back to his activity like nothing happened.

This is such a great example of what we do: support kids through emotional moments so they can come out stronger, more confident, and thriving in the water!

Calm, cool, and collected, she dives to the bottom of a 7 ft pool and scoops up toys like it’s nothing. 😊
Plant that seed of self-confidence 🌱 and watch these kids take off. Watching it happen is the best part of my job. ❤️

What you don’t see? The depth of what’s really going on.
This isn’t just toy retrieval — it’s emotional regulation, breath control, body awareness, and the mental focus to move downward when every instinct says float up.
It’s fun, but it’s full-body, mind-body work. Strength, trust, and calm under pressure all building beneath the surface. 😎

*

🚨 **Drowning is the #1 cause of death for autistic children*
but together, we can change that.

My name is Molly McDade
and I run MCWAVW SMIM , a swim school dedicated to providing **affordable, one-on-one lessons** for autistic and neurodivergent children. Many families struggle to find instructors trained in sensory-friendly, trauma-informed methods which is why I’ve made it my mission to fill this gap.

**The Challenge:**
- Indoor pool rentals, insurance, and specialized training are costly.
- To keep lessons accessible, I charge just **$30 per half-hour**far below market rates.
- But as demand grows, I need helpsecuring a winter pool location to continue lifesaving lessons year-round.

**How You Can Help:**
I’ve started a **[GoFundMe]to cover:
✔ **Heated pool space** for winter lessons
✔ **Scholarships** for families in need
✔ **Safety equipment** (flotation devices, sensory tools)

**Why This Matters:**
- Autistic children are **160x more likely to drown** than their peers.
- Swimming isn’t just a skill—it’s a **survival tool** for kids who wander.
- Every $30 donated = **one lesson** for a child who otherwise couldn’t afford it.
