Today we had 2 groups of great riders. 1st group was a Grandma/Mom who brought her girls on a trail ride. She used to ride competitively and wanted to share this experience with her family. Many of them had little to no experience riding but today they all concord their nerves and did a wonderful job riding.

Our 2nd group was Grandpa and Grandma who brought the Grandkids for 1 1/2 trail ride. The girls were nervous but super exited. They all did a great job and rocked the trails.

Thanks everyone for joining us on this beautiful Sunday for a ride.

Our little trainees first time outside (well he did escape once) he is learning not everything is gonna hurt jim but he is still unsure about a lot of things. As the stable gets busier he is getting exposed to new sounds and sites. He is freaking out less when the horses come and go and we sre making progress on being able to touch him. Everyone want to juat go and squeeze him and l9ve on him because of his size. Thats our goal!

Today we had a group of hard working women come out and ride. Some had experience and some had little to no experience. By the end everyone was having a great time trotting their horses. 1 of these ladies flies helicopters, 1 is a medic, 3 are nurses, and 1 is president of sheriff auxiliary and helps our sheriff's dept get the dogs and supplies they need to keep us safe. It was an extreme honor to take these 6 women on a 2 hr trail ride today! The work each of them does to help our community and other communities is amazing. Thank you ladies for all you do.

so as the weather warms up I always get asked when is it to hot to ride, how do we cool the horses, can they get sick.
well below is a good guide.

take the temp + humidity = heat index.
if it is 150 and higher please be careful, over 180 for sure find a lake and just have a lake day.

At the stable we dont ride when heat index is 150 or higher. We make sure the horses have clean water to drink and we might even get the hose out to let them play in it. they have found on hot days they dont really mind the sprinkler.

Remember if you bath your horse to take the extra water off before letting them back into the pastures.
