Big change coming to Colorado on July 1, and most shooters still haven't heard the details. HB25-1133 takes effect in a few weeks, and it changes how ammunition is sold across the state - new age verification requirements, behind-the-counter display rules, and signature requirements for delivered orders.

Colorado's hunting community has had a busy and frustrating 2026. The Parks and Wildlife Commission became a political battleground, two governor-appointed commissioners resigned before a Senate vote, and a proposal to ban commercial fur sales triggered five-plus hours of debate at a meeting that required security screening for attendees.

Meanwhile, SB25-003 kicks in August 1 and may affect more hunting fi****ms than originally anticipated - including some configurations hunters assumed were off the list.

Colorado raised the bar on concealed carry training in 2025 - and a lot of permit holders still don't realize renewals changed too.

New permits now require an 8-hour class with live-fire qualification and a written exam. Renewals require a 2-hour refresher with live fire. Online-only courses don't cut it anymore. And with SB25-003's new purchase requirement hitting August 1, 2026, summer class slots are going to fill fast.
