A Pre Professional Program

PRESENTED BY DC DANCE FACTORY, THE DC DAYTIME PROGRAM IS A PRE-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM DESIGNED FOR DEDICATED DANCERS LOOKING TO ELEVATE THEIR TECHNIQUE IN A FOCUSED, DAYTIME ENVIRONMENT. BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 8 AND HELD EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY, THE PROGRAM OFFERS STUDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN WITH DC STAFF, ALUMNI, AND GUEST INSTRUCTORS IN A PER-FORMANCE-FREE SETTING CENTERED ENTIRELY ON GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.

HOSTED BY LIZZIE CLARK, THE DC DAYTIME PROGRAM PROVIDES
DANCERS WITH THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAIN DURING THE
DAY WITHOUT THE COMMITMENT OF COMPETITIONS OR PERFOR-MANCES. THIS TRAINING-ONLY PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT IMPROVING THEIR CRAFT AND DEVELOPING AS VERSATILE ARTISTS. Originally from San Diego, California, Ellianna (Ellie) has trained and competed in many styles, including: jazz, ballet, contemporary, musical theater, and hip hop. After training at Evoke Dance Movement, she moved to LA to continue her education at UCLA, studying Dance and Film, while pursuing a professional dance career. In LA, she started teaching, dived further into her training of Modern and Hip Hop styles (including: Popping, Hip Hop, and House), as well as began traveling with Radix as a Pro Assistant.

Her credits include: Chris Brown (current), Sabrina Carpenter, Teyana Taylor, Renee Rapp, The Weekend, Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, Ciara, Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Will.I.Am, & more. She strives to share her passion with those around her, and cultivate a path where dance can exist with creativity, humility, joy, power, and perspective.

DOM LASHAWN

Dom Lashawn is a versatile dancer and choreographer originally from Chicago, Illinois—widely known as the “Windy City”—where he built a strong foundation in Hip Hop, House, Ballet, Contemporary, and more. Now based in Australia, Dom continues to expand his global presence in the dance industry.

Currently on the R&B Tour, Dom has worked with internationally acclaimed artists including Jungkook, Justin Bieber, Daddy Yankee, Chance The Rapper, and Amber Liu. Dom’s choreography has been featured in music videos such as for the J-pop group ONEOREIGHT, and his passion for teaching has taken him across the globe, leading workshops and camps in numerous countries.

When did you start dancing? I’ve been dancing from the VERY beginning!!

How many years have you been at DC Dance Factory? 18 years

Three words you would use to describe yourself? Loyal, wholehearted, & sentimental.

Favorite quote? “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou

Favorite style of dance and why? Contemporary/lyrical! I’ve always deeply connected with any movement that allows me to express my heart & emotions on a different level!!

Three words to describe DC Dance Factory? , Life-changing, & HOME!!!

What is your biggest dream? Dream school? Dream Career? Plans for next year? My biggest dream is to turn the thing I’ve loved my entire life into my career. Next year, I am dancing at the collegiate level for the University of Tennessee! After college, I plan to pursue professional dance opportunities & see wherever it takes me!! Eventually, I’d love to bring everything I’ve learned back home and help continue growing the family business!!

On days when you wanted to quit what kept you going? Easily the people & the way dance makes me feel. Dance has always been my outlet! it’s where I feel safe, understood, and most like myself. But the people are what kept me going. They turned this place into so much more than a dance studio. They became family, & are the reason I kept showing up.

Advice to the next generation of dancers? 1. REMEMBER YOUR WHY!!! Dance can easily lose its meaning when you forget why you chose it in the first place! No matter how hard it gets, never let the pressure become bigger than your passion that started it all. 2. SOAK IT ALL IN! One day you’ll blink, and the moments you couldn’t wait to get through will be the ones you miss the most. &&& 3. TRUST IN THE LORD! God’s got you…always!🤍

When did you start dancing? I started dancing at 3!!

How many years have you been at DC Dance Factory? I’ve been at DC for 8 years!

Three words you would use to describe yourself? Joyful, genuine, resilient.

Favorite quote? Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind - Dr. Suess

Favorite style of dance and why? Honestly I can’t pick between contemporary, lyrical, and jazz because I can express different parts of myself in ways that feels most authentic to me. These styles challenge me creatively and make me feel the most at peace when I dance.

Three words to describe DC Dance Factory? Home, irreplaceable, transformative.

Dream Career & Plans for next year? Next year I will be attending the University of Alabama, and will be a freshman on the Alabama Dance Team!! I am majoring in general business.

On days when you wanted to quit what kept you going? Two things have kept me going. The amount of love I have for dance itself and all the people it’s put in my life, and because I know what it’s like not to be able to dance due to an ACL tear. Having something you love so much suddenly taken away from you completely changes your perspective. During that time, I would’ve done just about anything to be back in a studio, even on the exhausting days. So once I was finally able to dance again, I stopped taking it for granted. Dance has also given me my best friends, mentors that feel like second parents, and incredible experiences that I will never forget.

Advice to the next generation of dancers? My advice is to give your best to everything and everyone around you. Stay present in the moment and don’t regret not taking advantage of the time you have with the people around you. Choose to be a better version of yourself everyday and always be respectful and kind to everyone. DC is such a special place and those people around you with will stick with you for life. Don’t take it for granted!

When did you start - I first started when I was 6 years old.

How many years - I’ve been dancing for 12 years of my life.

Three words to describe yourself - driven, compassionate, focused

Favorite style of dance and why - My favorite style of dance is hip hop because it’s energetic, fun, and allows me to show my personality and confidence. I also love contemporary because it gives me an opportunity to express my emotions and tell a story through movement.

Three words to describe DC Dance Factory - Supportive, Inspiring, Family.

What is your biggest dream and dream school? My biggest dream is to achieve success in everything I am passionate about and make a positive impact on others. My dream school is Texas.

Dream career and plans for next year - My dream is to win the Masters and become a professional golfer. My plans for next year are to continue improving my golf game, work hard in school, and keep growing as both a dancer and an athlete.

On days you felt like you wanted to quit, what kept you going?
On days I felt like quitting, I kept going because I knew my goals were bigger than the challenges I was facing. God,My family, friends, teammates, and my love for dancing reminded me why I started and motivated me to keep pushing every day. This journey at DC Dance Factory has built me in so many different ways and has prepared me for what comes next.
