Our annual Special Friends with disabilities Rodeo is coming up in October! Registration is now open! You must pre-register. We will need the names of the participants attending. Please be aware of when registration ends. We are are also looking for businesses/people in our community to get involved. We need a T-shirt sponsor and a trophy sponsor!  We’d also love to have somebody provide food and ice cream for the day! Message us or email us if you would like to be a part of this amazing event!

Good afternoon, everyone,
After receiving more than a few phone calls, texts and messages this week, we want to take a moment to address something that unfortunately comes up every year. Please know that this message is not intended as a scolding or criticism of anyone. We simply want to explain the requirements and why we have to follow the deadlines outlined in the rulebook.
First and foremost, we want you to know how much we appreciate our rodeo family. So many people give their time, energy, and heart to this association, and we are truly grateful for every person who helps make our season possible.
We do, however, have rules and deadlines that we have to follow in order to keep everything organized and ensure that Finals are ready for our members. Without clear rules and deadlines, it becomes very difficult to keep everything running smoothly.

Per the rulebook:
XVIII. Finals
a. Qualifications
1. Must be a 2026 member in good standing.

2. Must compete in at least 4 rodeos and qualify for at least 1 event. For each event, member must compete in at least 4 rodeos (example ... to compete in Finals for Barrel Racing, member must have competed as a member in Barrel Racing in at least 4 rodeos during the season). Finals Rodeo does NOT count as one of the 4.

3. Member must sell all 25 of his or her raffle tickets or sell a $500 Raffle Ticket Sponsorship. Sponsorship or ticket stubs and payment are due at the June 13th rodeo. No stubs will be accepted without the payment. Late tickets will be accepted until August 15th with a $200 late fee incurred. NO tickets will be accepted after August 15th. Tickets not received by August 15th will not count towards Finals.

4. Member – or a representative for the member – must volunteer to work at least two volunteer slots during the rodeo season – one must be in the first half of the season (March – June) and the other in the second half (August – October). A validated volunteer card MUST be turned in by the end of the October rodeo for the volunteer requirement to be met. If validated cards are not turned in, the member will not qualify for Finals. ***In lieu of volunteering, we offer the option of a $100 buyout for each volunteer spot.

Communication and Reminders
We have made every effort throughout the season to communicate these requirements and deadlines. In June, we posted reminders that some volunteer cards had not yet been turned in and offered a grace period for members to get those cards submitted by the August rodeo.
We have also provided multiple reminders regarding raffle tickets, jackets, buckles, volunteer requirements, and Finals qualifications. Information has been shared through email, Facebook, announcements at the rodeos, and the Finals raffle/volunteer information included in every membership packet.

We understand that everyone is busy, and we certainly do not expect anyone to remember every announcement. That is why we have tried to communicate the information in as many ways as possible.

Finals Awards
There are also important deadlines on our end. Jackets, buckles, and other awards have to be ordered far enough in advance to ensure they are completed and delivered in time for Finals. Once those orders are placed, payment is required.
We absolutely understand that unexpected circumstances happen. Throughout the season, we have tried to work with members who have experienced emergencies, vehicle problems, sick animals, family illnesses, or other situations beyond their control. We will always do our best to be reasonable and understanding when circumstances warrant it.
At the same time, we have to be fair and consistent with the rules and deadlines that apply to everyone.

A Note About Emails
We also received quite a few messages and emails on Friday and Saturday regarding Finals requirements.
Please keep in mind that our technology person has a regular job outside of the association. He does his best to respond to emails as quickly as possible, but sometimes those responses may take a little time because he has to take care of his regular work responsibilities first.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding.
Our goal is never to disappoint anyone or make anyone feel unwelcome. We truly want every member to have a positive experience, and we are proud of the rodeo family we have built together.

We appreciate your time, your support, your volunteer efforts, and everything you do to make this association successful. We look forward to finishing out the season together and having a great Finals and a fun remainder of the year!

Good afternoon,
As we are placing orders for those who've qualified (or will qualify) for finals, we've noticed MANY folks who ordered jackets or buckles who do not have their volunteer hours recorded for March-June, and many who would qualify except that the raffle tickets were not turned in. PLEASE check the qualification list. If you feel there has been an error, you will need to email [email protected] ASAP. Both of the above are requirements to qualify. We can't order buckles/jackets for contestants unless they qualify. Thank you for checking! Just click on the link!

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR EMAIL
* Competitor's Name
*Competitor's DATE OF BIRTH (not age)
*If they are a member or a non-member
*ALL events you wish to participate in!
*If it is a team event, please include partner's name or if you will use a draw partner
*PLEASE, if you need a campsite or a stall, include that information in your call-in email. How many stalls/sights? How many nights?
*If you are on yearly call-in (must be requested at the beginning of the year) and you CANNOT attend the rodeo, you do need to CALL OUT by email.

AFTER YOU CALL IN:
Make sure you check the email for accuracy! Mark does a great job handling this, but humans (and even AI) can make mistakes. If your confirmation email is incorrect, please let him know right away so he can take care of it.

Just a reminder
If you call in and don't show (unless you have a doctor's note), you are still responsible for your fees. Same goes if you are on yearly call-in and don't call out. Any changes need to be made before call-in ends.

LAST CALL FOR FINALS JACKETS/BUCKLES!
If you are a qualifier and have not yet indicated your preference (jacket or buckle), we need your choice ASAP! There are a lot of possible qualifiers not on our list!
If you want both, you may order the buckle and purchase the jacket. Jackets must be paid for before we order them. They are $115. If you are a NON-QUALIFIER and would like to order a jacket, you may do so. You can pay by Venmo (say-rodeo). We will place the order on Monday (August 24)! That is the latest we can put in our order! Please send request to

Yesterday was crazy hot! We appreciate everyone who came out and put up with that heat! We have an amazing group of volunteers, event directors, and families. There were a few accidents yesterday. I’m not sure what was in the air! The young man who got stepped on by the bull; the latest update is that he broke his jaw in three different places and will be having surgery this week. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. The young lady who fell off in the aisle did have a slight concussion, but she is OK. The annual Hunter Huey Memorial bull riding showed off some good up-and-coming young talent! The slip-and-slide was a big hit and helped cool things down for the kiddos. Despite the heat, everybody was in relatively good spirits; there was lots of camaraderie, encouragement, and laughter! Please stay tuned for September updates! Have a great week, everyone!

Good News for the Kiddos! It's going to be a hot one on Saturday! We will have a giant slip-and-slide! 60 feet of beat-the-heat water slide! Have the kids bring a change of clothing. We will offer the slide down by the barn from 4-6pm! We will need a few parent volunteers to help supervise and run the water hose. If you are willing to "pull up a chair" and help at the slide, please reach out!
This is for SAY families and kids with them only.

Happy Wednesday! We are almost to the AUGUST rodeo day!
It is going to be hot. Seems to be a "thing" in Georgia in the summer. Who knew?!? THE GOOD NEWS is, we will do a "no rodeo attire" buy-in for Saturday! For a $25 donation to our scholarship fund, you can wear a t-shirt in the arena!
What are the rules, and who can buy in?
Remember, rodeo attire is required in the arena, whether you are a contestant, parent, helper, or full-time volunteer; if you are in the arena, that attire is required. That said, you are welcome to participate in the "no rodeo attire" buy-in if you will be in the arena at any time! It's for a good cause, and you can be cooler!
Rules:
Boots while on horseback inside the arena are still REQUIRED
No spaghetti straps. Ladies, you are not going to the beach. Keep it covered.
Leggings, T-shirts, longer shorts (no b***y shorts), jeans are okay.
Hats are optional
You will need a special wristband showing that you bought in.

Don't forget about your horses! Electrolytes on hand are definitely recommended. You are also welcome to rinse them with a hose down by the barn.
