Player of the Match 4/26

Boys 2014- James O'Neil - James was the difference maker all game long. He was relentless in his pressuring the opponent’s back and keeper from start to finish. His hard work from the opening kick off to game’s end forced so many errors by their backs that Nathan, Kaleb and the rest had easy chances to score all day! That, and his VERY nice turn, dribble and rocket into the upper 90 for the go-ahead goal in the second half was the proverbial “last straw” that broke the opponent! The rest of the game belonged to us!

Girls 2014 - Molly Flynn- Molly came to the game having precious few hours of sleep (got back late from vacation) and I wondered how much energy she would have. No issue! Molly played a critical role in central midfield and central defense, controlling and distributing the ball smartly throughout the game. Scoring first is always a good thing and Molly's lovely pass to Ivy that led directly to the first goal was tone-setting for the entire game. Molly has improved her ball skills which allowed her to escape trouble and advance the ball.

Boys 2015 - Sebastian Escalona- Sebastian’s game has stepped up quite a bit lately. He continues to challenge opponents with the dribble but now has improved his work rate, vision and passing. It’s a deadly combination for defenders if they don’t know what to expect. Will they be dribbled on (and, potentially, “nut-megged”-Sebastian’s favorite) or passed around? Yesterday (last week, too!), Sebastian created many scoring chances for his teammates by making good decisions and using his skill and had a few assists , as a result! He’s becoming “dangerous” to opponents!

Girls 2013- Hannah McMahon- Hannah who worked tirelessly as she typically does. She used her skills smartly to advance the ball and take chances on goal. She won her share of battles and made some quality passes.

Boys 2012 - Chris Bonaceto - Chris was constantly forcing the other team to make changes and overcommit to him defensively, causing our other players to be more open. Chris created tons of opportunities, including many of the chances that led to our goals.

Boys 2010 - Patrick Sullivan- Patrick earned Player of the Match honors with a composed and commanding performance in midfield, partnering with his midfield teammates to anchor our team’s rhythm from start to finish. Calm under pressure, he consistently made smart decisions on the ball, linking defense to attack and helping maintain the team’s strong possession and control of the game. His standout moment came with about 10 minutes remaining, when he capped off his performance with a superbly well struck ball for the winning goal. Showing confidence and precision, he seized the opportunity and delivered when it mattered most, securing the 2–1 victory. Patrick's leadership, vision, and clutch finish was a difference maker for us in last night's game, embodying the team’s poise and determination in a hard-fought win.

Player of the Match - 4/19

G 2014 - Avery Harrington - She started the game brightly at outside back and worked hard on build-up play. Slotted into central midfield she responded to the challenge, stepping up to s***f out attacking threats and advance the ball. She really shined as a wing midfielder-pressing aggressively and effectively, and her interception of a clearance and subsequent smart attacking play led directly to our goal.

G 2013 - Amelia Haverty - She worked very hard in this game. She defended well, tracked down opponents, gathered the ball effectively, and advanced the ball smartly on several occasions.

B 2010 - Jake Boyd - In his first game with the team, Jake made an immediate impact playing up front, constantly pressuring and creating havoc for the opposition’s back line. His effort paid off when he drew a foul to earn a penalty, which he calmly converted. He then capped off his performance by scoring the game-winning goal with just four minutes remaining. A fantastic first showing—well deserved recognition.

B 2012 - Charlie George - We scored off of two of his set pieces. He also played the full game, working box to box. Charlie was our defensive anchor, making a ton of excellent defensive plays.

FSC- Players of the Match - 4/12/26

B 2012 - Aidan Rhys - Aiden scored 2 beautiful goals, one to go up 1-0 and the second to even the score at 2-2. He played all 70 mins, working hard to pressure up top and give the midfield and width players support.

G 2014 - Maryn Powers - Maryn has improved her technique and wherever she played on this day things went pretty well. In particular, when she moved forward into central midfield, our attack got stronger, calmer in a sort of way. She controlled the ball, distributed smartly, and made a real impact.

B 2015 - Brycen Galster- Brycen did it all this game! Solid defending, two great 1-timer goals and a pk. Finished with a hat trick.

B 2010 - JJ Fox - JJ delivered a standout, all-action performance that proved crucial in securing a dominant 3–0 victory. Demonstrating impressive versatility, JJ seamlessly shifted between center back and the wing, excelling in both roles and giving the team tactical flexibility throughout the match.
Defensively, JJ was rock-solid at center back—reading the game well, breaking up opposition attacks, and working with Andrew T. in organizing the back line with confidence. When pushed out wide at wing, JJ brought energy and composure, contributing to forward play while still tracking back diligently to maintain defensive shape.
Beyond individual contributions, JJ’s presence at both positions elevated the entire team’s performance. His work rate, positioning, and decision-making helped control the tempo of the game and kept the opposition under constant pressure.

B 2014 - James O'Neil - We have come to see his dribbling skills improve and on this day he used those skills to make an IMPACT. He was dangerous in the opponent's end, he was nifty getting out of our own end, and then the goal! James scooted past an opponent and went in 1v1 with the goalkeeper and slipped in a beauty.

G 2013 - Lennon King - Lennon is one of those that has clearly put in the time to improve her footskills and, having done so, she has come to make a greater impact on the game, in more positions on the field. On this day she seemed to be part of our best rushes forward, controlling the ball, dribbling with skill, and advancing the ball into wide spaces.

FSC- Player of the Match -Sunday, March 29

Boys 2010- Murphy Flynn
Murphy earns Player of the Game honors after a standout performance in our 3-2 win, delivering a superb hat trick while showcasing incredible versatility across the pitch. Each of his three goals highlighted a different trait of a complete player — a calm and clinical finish, a powerful effort driven by determination, and a smartly timed run with excellent awareness to find space. Beyond the goals, Murphy stepped into multiple midfield roles, helping control the tempo and link play before pushing forward to excel as a striker. A true all-around display that made the difference.

Boys 2012- Austin Cammarata
He played an excellent game for us at center back. He won every ball and covered our entire half of the pitch. He was very calm on the ball as well, dribbling out of the back and connecting passes up field.

Boys 2014 - Kingston Kesmetis
After a winter of technical training and highlighting our need to be composed and thoughtful about our decisions and passes, Kingston has continued his steady improvement. On this day he consistently gave the team a wide option, used his skills to be dangerous, and made good decisions. That he scored the goal was a fitting reward for his efforts!

Boys 2015 - Calder Guellnitz
Calder played all over the field yesterday; outside back, center back and striker and spent a lot of time in midfield. He had great communication in the back, defended tenaciously and had two nice goals! The first goal came after the defender was holding onto him (twice!) but Calder kept his cool, didn’t complain to the ref and kept battling and earned the rebound goal in the scramble that ensued! Many players would’ve stopped to complain or thrown their arms up but Calder just kept battling!

Girls 2013 - Gia Chelman
Not only has Gia worked to improve her skills but she has become a fine leader on the team. She worked her tail off in the first half, stepping into
passing lanes, running down attackers, advancing the ball to targets, and then later pushing forward and taking some shots. When the need arose, she jumped in to play in goal. Her communication -- loud and useful -- is a model for the rest of the team.

Girls 2014 - Gianna DeFranceso
After a winter of technical training and highlighting our need to be composed and thoughtful about our decisions and passes, Gianna consistently stepped into passing lanes, controlled the ball, and made a quality pass to get us into the attack. She anticipates the play and tackles well which broke up the opponents attack several

FSC- Player of the Match -Saturday, March 28

Boys 2010- Brendan Crandall

Brendan stepped into an unfamiliar role at center back and delivered a standout performance that anchored the team from start to finish. Paired up with Andrew T. at center back, they took on the responsibility of organizing the defense, Brendan showed composure, awareness, and strong communication well beyond expectations for someone new to the position. Throughout the match, Brendan consistently disrupted the opposing team’s attack, reading plays early and making crucial interceptions and clearances. His positioning limited scoring opportunities and helped neutralize the opposition’s most dangerous threats. Whether stepping in to win tackles or dropping back to provide cover, he brought stability and confidence to the back line.

Many of these girls began their soccer journeys right here in the FSC program. It would be great to see our community come out and support them as they compete for the Division 1 State Championship. The game is tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Doyle Field in Leominster. Every journey starts somewhere.
