This am I woke up really feeling it.. grieving this dream home. And I’m not going to pretend I’m not.
5 days.
Wednesday.
Thursday.
Friday.
Saturday.
Sunday.
Then I walk out of this house for the last time.
I woke up this morning carrying grief, heaviness, and sadness that just doesn’t feel good at all.
Old me would’ve buried it.
Distracted myself.
Gone straight into strategy mode.
Tried to “win” my way out of the pain.
But this morning a spiritual mentor told me:
“It’s actually good that you’re grieving. This is a death of sorts.” Thank you . 🙏
He’s right.
Yesterday was rough. An exceptionally higher offer came in after I’d already accepted another but fell thru so couldn’t pursue. The rental on 80 acres I thought was lined up fell through. And this house still isn’t packed. Everything hit at once.
So today I started the same way I’ve been trying to start every day: with the Lord.
Last night I went on a 90-minute walk — and instead of obsessing over solutions and logistics, I spent most of it thanking God for 100+ things. Then praying over 100+ people. It was the only thing that pulled my mind out of this heaviness.
Here’s what God has been teaching me:
1. He forms men through disappointment — not just through victories. Not through comfort. Through suffering. Through surrender.
2. He allows seasons where none of your normal coping mechanisms work. For years I would outwork pain. Outperform loss. Outstrategize discomfort. But He strips that away when He’s trying to reveal something deeper — not to destroy you. To transform your heart.
3. Some seasons must end so new ones can begin. This house is apart of my old life and self. This is also an act of obedience.
“Although He was a Son, He learned obedience through what He suffered.” — Hebrews 5:8
This home brought peace. Healing. Stillness. Memories with my kids I’ll never forget.
And it brought me Ellie. ❤️❤️
I declare this next season is going to involve far more spiritual growth than anything else.
Less striving. More obedience.
Less control. More trust.
Less proving. More partnership.
I’m not only standing, I’m on a rock now. A Bedrock of sorts. Thank you God for loss. 🙏
