As we wrap up our Summer season, we want to take a moment to reflect on an awesome summer!
We started the season in April by offering our Learn to Swim (Minnows) program. Through the course of 6 different classes, our coaches Steve and Tori along with a few of our high school swimmers, taught over 40 kids basic water safety, life saving skills, and beginning stroke technique. Water safety is so important and we love being able to offer this to our community.
Our Bronze, Silver, and Gold groups started practicing in May. We had 51 kids on our team this summer, ranging in ages 5-18 including 12 swimmers that were new to Milan Aquatics! Throughout June we participated in the SEISA league. We swam 5 dual meets against other local teams where our swimmers had a chance to race and compete. We finished 2nd in the SEISA Championship Meet!
In July, we shifted our focus to USA meets where we capped off the season by taking 4 swimmers to the Indiana Divisional Championship Meet where they swam exceptionally well and hit their personal goals!
We were also fortunate to have two college swimmers join us in the pool whenever their schedules allowed. It’s always exciting to see former Milan Aquatics swimmers continue their careers at the collegiate level while coming back to train with our team. Their presence is inspiring for our younger swimmers and provides outstanding competition for our older athletes.
Summer is a busy season, especially for our swimmers, many of whom are multi-sport athletes. Between practices, jobs, vacations, and preparing for fall sports, there’s a lot competing for their time. We are incredibly grateful for every swimmer’s commitment this summer. We’d also like to thank our swim parents and supporters, who we know are keeping all the schedules in the background.
Finally, a huge THANK YOU to our coaches, Steve and Tori! Your dedication, countless hours, and passion for this program do not go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do to help Milan Aquatics continue to grow and succeed.
We will take a few weeks off and will begin to prepare for the Fall/Winter season so swim families please be looking for that information soon!
