🏋️♂️ 4 Ways to Mentally Prepare for Competition Day 🏆
Competing isn’t just about strength—it’s about mindset. Here’s how to step onto the platform feeling confident and ready to perform:
🔥 1. Visualization & Mental Rehearsal
✔️ Picture yourself executing every lift with precision & confidence
✔️ Picture the competition setting, the barbell, the crowd, and the feeling of completing a lift successfully.
✔️ Engage all your senses—feel the knurling, hear the judge’s call, and sense the adrenaline
✔️ Mental reps build real confidence. If you can see it, you can do it!
⚡ 2. Control the Controllables
✔️ Focus only on what YOU can control: warm-up, mindset, ex*****on
✔️ You can’t control the schedule, judges, or other lifters—so don’t waste energy on them
✔️ Stick to your routine, trust your training, and stay present
🧘 3. Breathe & Nerves
✔️ Expect nerves—they mean you care. Channel them into controlled energy rather than panic.
✔️ Use box breathing (inhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec, exhale 4 sec, hold 4 sec) to stay calm
✔️ Reframe anxiety as excitement: “I’m ready for this!” instead of “I’m nervous”
🎯 4. Pre-Comp Routine & Process Over Outcome
✔️ Stick to your normal warm-up, listen to music, use mindset cues
✔️ Avoid distractions—don’t overanalyze attempts, stress about competitors, or check social media
✔️ Execute each lift like in training & let the results take care of themselves
