Yesterday was raw & cold, slight drizzling, visiting field was not prepped with no lines nor boxes, without even a rake present. Mound was more than challenging. Not the easiest opening days as far as what we could control. Makes you appreciate the job that both Bellingham and Franklin do with their fields for each and every game. π
Capturing the sweep while making the trek was certainly nice; however, seeing the team bonding going on, listening to the encouragement from each players. Not allowing the weather and the logistics to hinder anything. Seeing 9 kids pitch in the double header, 3 catch, every player moving around in at-east 2 different spots up to 5 positions for a couple of them all worked and worked out well. Marching to the same beat without missing signals from coach and applying things that they were taught at indoor workouts. Strong base running, outfielders taking great angles and hitting their cuts.
Great at bats for everyone with our lead-off hitter (Jace) going 4-4 along with 4BB setting the tone. Our 3 hitter (Feeney) went 5-7 at the plate with 3 strong innings on the bump. Norfolk's newcomer to this squad Paul Griffin who was in the 2 spot - crushed the ball all day & was stellar on the mound as well. JJ Godino went 3-5 with some hard liners that were placed in the open spot, just like his wrist shot usually finds the corner of the net! Logan Vilorio, Dylan Harris, Torin Cerone, James Young, Teddy Robertson, Mason Dupuis, Mason Dellarmo, Dylan Dulac, Nick Skarin - All with HUGE impacts with great hits up and down the line up and saw some really strong play from all of them. Something to build on for sure. βΎππ€©
