Travel/vacation workouts. Should you or shouldn’t you?
If you think to yourself, “why not?” then go for it. If you think, “do I have to?” then don’t.
That’s my philosophy.
👉To my workout group-keep your workouts simple and fun. And don’t be afraid to do an all bodyweight workout.
👉To my non-workout group-I feel ya, trust me. Even us trainers and coaches need a break from our routines. So enjoy that relaxing vacation with nothing on the agenda and be ready to get after your workouts when you get home.

Okay, so can you still gain strength while doing bodyweight movements?

Yes, but not always.

Pistol Squats are a good example, as are many unilateral movements, which offer a challenge without using any extra weight.

So when is it appropriate to add weight to a movement? I have found it’s most appropriate when a movement is done without compensation whatsoever and can be controlled through the entirety of the movement.

So a Pistol Squat, for example. If the movement isn’t controlled through the entire eccentric portion and the hips drop to the target depth, then you probably aren’t ready to make this movement weighted.

Continue focusing on the balance and control before you rush to add weight. You will still gain strength. And in my opinion, it’s a much more function strength.

I don’t have the words to describe how grateful I am for this family. The Lord has blessed me in a way I could never earn or deserve. I can’t understand why God decided I get to have this family as mine, but my thankfulness and love for Him and His grace grows with every year that passes.

The human body is so complex, so intricately designed, so incredible. The ability it has to adapt and become stronger helps us realize this truth is in so many other areas of our lives.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to get this 300lbs up today…or ever, but the body can surprise you like that. HAPPY SQUATTING!!
