We spend time with our friends and family. We look to learn something new, experience something different, set out on an exciting adventure. We want to live that life for as long as possible and fill it with as much joy and pleasure as we can. We happen to be a gym that believes everyone should have that experience. 70 never looked so good!

Karen wanted to share these photos because of the work she’s put in to be this lean and fit on her 70th birthday. She wanted to inspire others to work for the same thing! 💪🏼

This isn’t genetics. Karen wasn’t always so fit. She decided she was going to look and feel this way. In fact, she made it one of her goals 10 years ago!

Karen decided in order to get in the best shape of her life, she needed to be consistent. Consistent with the way she ate, consistent with her movement, and consistent with strength training.

She identified what foods worked for her and what exercises worked for her. And she cut out what didn’t: she avoided foods that made her gain weight and worked with us to find what exercises and weights made her feel strong, energetic, and injury free.

Now in retirement, Karen plays tennis often, strength trains 2x/week, does yoga 1x/week, and rides her bike. She eats healthy almost every day, but still leaves room for enjoying her favorites.

If you look in the mirror or get up from a chair and feel your age, just remember something can be done about that. Age is just a number: your habits dictate how you look and feel. And Karen has got her habits locked in! Happy Birthday, Karen!

Everyone just seems to be losing weight.

Unfortunately, we aren’t suddenly getting perfect adherence to a healthy diet and plenty of movement outside of the gym. What we are getting is the use of GLP-1s, a drug you are sure to have heard about and almost certainly know more than one person taking.

GLP-1s seem to have an almost magical effect on weight loss, though: people who have had 15lbs of stubborn fat or 50lbs to lose are suddenly losing it quite quickly. The short term side effects seem fairly minimal. What’s the catch?

In our role as trainers, we realize people are going to take these drugs, so how can we best help them realize how to make the most of it? The fact is, when you take a GLP-1, you are going to lose all kinds of weight: fat AND ALSO muscle. Losing muscle isn’t good for your long term health. Having a strength training plan will help you maintain as much of your existing muscle as possible while losing the fat.

Imagine waking up feeling stronger and healthier every single day.

Imagine having the energy to get everything done. You can pick things up, move them around, play with your kids (or grandkids) and still have the vitality to do it again tomorrow.

The key to health, strength, and ultimately, longevity, is to increase your muscle. Adding muscle can be a challenge: it isn’t easy even if you have a plan. Adding muscle takes commitment and some work, but it will pay off tenfold in the long run.
