The Tri Up North Triathlons are bike, paddle, run triathlons in Frankfort, Michigan. Located on Betsie Bay and the Western shore of Lake Michigan, Frankfort is the perfect location for a triathlon. 2015 was the inaugural year and the 10 mile Classic course is specifically geared toward beginners and those looking for a little motivation to become more active. For 2016 we're introducing the 22 mile
Challenger Course which is a competitive course for experienced athletes and relay teams. Our goal is to engage young people, families and individuals to make healthy choices and live an active lifestyle so everyone can enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer. The weekend of the Tri Up North Triathlon provides a great opportunity for both locals and visitors to enjoy an athletic challenge and then relax and soak in Northern Michigan. Early fall offers wonderful weather, gorgeous scenery and an easy going pace. With Frankfort as your home base for the weekend, you 're in one of the most picturesque harbor towns; on M22, one of Michigan's most famous roads; and right at the edge of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. After the tri, you can visit Frankfort's culinary exposition, Taste of Benzie, for a sampling of all the area has to offer, or you can set off to explore Frankfort and the other beautiful nearby communities. There's no better way to get the "Up North" feel than making September 10 your weekend to Tri Up North!
