Coaching young kids can be tricky! There is a tough balance between instruction, correct fundamentals and keeping it fun so we can engage the kids and keep them plugged in for the entire session. Our goals should be to get them moving (reps reps reps!), teach them to listen and learn, and most importantly make sure lacrosse is FUN and not just another thing on a long list of activities they have to do.

Looking for a way to spice up practice?

Take 20 index cards and write out different exercises. Some examples may be

🥍10 lefty shots
🥍5 rocker moves to the net
🥍15 pops right handed
🥍10 catches strong hand up with a partner
🥍5 through the leg catches..and then add in some fun ones! (Player’s choice, jumping jacks, 1 minute water break etc)

It takes some prep work, but will pay off HUGE long term because the kids get excited about learning and want to play the game!!
