We had a blast smoking up a storm at last weekend’s 2nd Annual KP Gridiron Pigskin Pigout! 🏈🔥
Thank you to everyone who came out, grabbed a plate, and helped us raise money for the KP Gridiron Club.

It was an honor for the Grumpy Old Patriot Barbeque crew to cook up over 400 pounds of meat to help supply equipment, gear, and support for our local athletes this season.

What a weekend at the Kora Kares Ride and Barbecue Competition! A massive thank you to Kathy, Tom, Chad, and Nicole for making it such an amazing event.

We kicked things off on Saturday by taking 2nd place out of 53 teams in the KCBS One-Meat Rib contest with a near-perfect score of 177.71/180! 🏆🔥

On Sunday, we locked in for the KCBS Masters Competition. The cook went great overall—here’s how the scores shook out:
🍗 Chicken: 177.70/180 (6th out of 51)
🍖 Ribs: 167.30/180 (32nd out of 51)
🐖 Pork: 165.66/180 (38th out of 51)
🥩 Brisket: 175.42/180 (8th out of 51)
That brought us to an overall total of 686.18 / 720, putting us at 24th place overall!

Huge congratulations to our friend Luke Darnell with Old Virginia Smoke on taking home the Grand Championship, and to Sabrina with Smoke Sisters for claiming Reserve Grand Champion! 👏🎉

We are off for a few weeks and will turn our focus to Camp Harkness the weekend of 9/10 - 9/12

This weekend the Grumpy Old Patriot Barbeque Team, headed to Hiram Maine for the Kora Kares Ride and Barbecue Competition.

On Saturday we served as a Mentor Team to an aspiring Chef named Gianni. The Kids Q category was ‘Anything Maple Syrup’ so Gianni planned and created Maple Infused Meatballs with a Maple Syrup Glaze.

Man can this kid cook!

These meatballs were amazing! His smile says it all, Gianni has a standing invitation to cook with us anytime.

Special thanks to our friends at Joe’s Butcher and Bay for donating the 3 meat custom ground beef blend that Gianni used to make his meatballs.

Grumpy Old Patriot Barbeque brought the heat and took home 2nd Place in the KCBS One-Meat Ribs Competition at the Kora Kares Ride and Barbecue Competition! 🏆🔥

A huge thank you to the organizers, judges, and everyone who came out to support a fantastic cause with Kora Kares. We have struggled with Ribs all year and were pleased to have achieved this competing in such a talented field of 54 of the best Competition Barbecue teams in the Country.

Congrats to all the other teams who competed—it was a great day of BBQ and community. Working on our Sunday meats now.
