The Desert Classic Open at Lakeview will return for the tournaments 3rd year August 5-7. Very Similar in format to the Lilac. We will be running the event, and the fundraising will benefit the Shriners Hospital as well. Online registration link will be up soon. Watch Lakeview Golf & Country Club page for more info.

It is with great sadness that we will not be hosting the Lilac City Invitational at the Fairways Golf Course this year. Due to the uncertainty of going to 9 holes and when that will happen we are going to put our efforts and resources into an event we know will happen. We will changing the name and moving the event to Lakeview Country Club in Soap Lake WA. It will be the same format, same great event at a different location.
Details will be out soon for that event.

Thank you to all of the people who invested so much for this event over the years. So a round of applause for The Durgans, Kris Kallem, Buster Heitman, The Shriners, and many others who helped along the way. We hope to continue building a great event in this new chapter. Thank you.

Competition is close through the front nine holes in the final day of the Lilac City Invitational! Brad Merek (-6) has a 1 stroke lead on Li Wang (-5) going into the back stretch.

There is something about the Wind and the Lilac City Invitational that just go hand in hand. Yesterday was a continuation of 30 mph wind gusts just like the day before. The best round went to Amateur Aaron Byrd who shot 7-. Byrd is a local who works in the pro shop at the Fairways. The lowest round of the day by a professional was 71 by Li Wang of Sahalee CC who is in solo second at -2, and Adam Power of Hayden Lake CC at +1 solo 3rd.

Brad Marek held on to his lead shooting even par. Marek is sitting at -6 with a four-shot lead over Li Wang.

This is by far the hardest this tournament has ever played for a weekend, last year the winner shot -17 and 21 pros were under par for the tournament. Currently, we have 2 golfers under par for the whole tournament.

Brad Marek is a name that has been going around the golfing community since the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island. But we met Brad last year here at the Lilac City Invitational where he came in 2nd. “Something tells me this course might play a touch easier for him this week” Said Dakota White the Fairways Head Professional and Lilac Tournament Director. “It’s really great to attract guys like that who can play at the highest level, I really think if we keep working hard at it the field can be 120 pros of this caliber.”

Marek is Leading by 4 shots of the Fairways Director of Instruction Derrick Campbell. Marek was the only player in the field to break 70 in today's challenging wind firing a 66. Campbell is a -2 followed by Li Wang of Sahalee CC and Eddie Heinen of CDA.

After meeting with the superintendent and rules official we decided to pause mowing the greens again due to the forecast of a bigger wind storm tomorrow. We don’t want them to get so fast that wind is moving the ball on the greens, at that point we would have to delay.

The Lilac City Invitational is a professional golf tournament held by the Fairways Golf Course in Cheney, Wa.
