24K Racing Report- Misfits, Mayhem & Mechanical Failures

Round 3 of the Missouri ATV Motocross Championship Series brought the 24K Racing crew to Misfits MX in Amoret, Missouri, and as usual, the team delivered plenty of action both on and off the track.

🩶Dustin #12
Dustin kicked off the day with what can only be described as a “typical Dustin” impromptu gymnastics routine in the 30+ class. Unfortunately, he did not stick the landing and has spent the remainder of the day claiming he “broke his ass.”

Official response from the rest of the team:
“But was it your WHOLE ass?” 🤣 *cough cough* Olivia Joiner

Despite the failed gymnastics attempt, Dustin still managed to secure 1st place in the class. (To be fair, he was also the only rider in the class.) But a win is a win, and we don’t ask unnecessary questions around here!

In his next class, he was loudly and proudly cheered on by his wife Sara Murphy and mother Marjorie Murphy. Easily the best cheering section at the track if you ask us! 🤣
As for his finishing position… we’re honestly not sure. 🤷‍♀️

🧡Kayleigh #015
For those wondering, the Belt Shredder 3000 remained safely parked today… belts intact.

Kayleigh chose a more reliable machine and absolutely ROCKED the 90 Mod class on her shifter. She also went bar-to-bar with her bestie in the Girls class, which was exciting for everyone except the mothers trying not to have full-blown STEMIs from the stands. 😅

Kayleigh would also like to report a strange noise coming from her 70 motor. Unfortunately, her mechanic is currently occupied icing his buttocks and has declined to investigate.
Applications for a new mechanic are now being accepted… again.

Overall: great rides, great friends, great day!

🩷Kristin #016
This track was right up Kristin’s alley.
While the rest of the team was busy crashing, breaking things, firing mechanics, and evaluating playground equipment, Kristin was out there quietly handling business.

She rode hard, worked every corner, and continues to make huge strides every race weekend. The confidence is building, the speed is showing up, and she’s getting closer to making life difficult for the riders ahead of her. We have a feeling she’s about to start turning some heads. 🏁💪

🩵Kasey #019
Kasey has also officially fired her mechanic…
A man crashes ONCE and suddenly the entire team is posting job openings. 🤣

After a mechanical failure kept her from competing in one of her two classes, she only got to race one quad today. The good news? She had an absolute blast riding her “big girl quad” in the 50cc Mod class.

She would also like everyone to know that Misfits MX has an AWESOME playground with swings!
10/10 entertainment rating from Kasey.

❤️Kye #021
Kye lined up for both 50cc classes today and continues to think he’s riding for a national title… right up until his thumb gets tired.

The biggest victory of the day?
We completed every lap without stopping to ask mid-moto questions! That’s called progress, people!
🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

♥️A huge thank you to our west-side of the state family who came out to cheer us on today! ♥️
Having friends and family in the stands makes these race weekends even more special, and we appreciate every single one of you! Joye Ham Moore Dixie Ham Heather Moore

The 24K Racing circus rolls on:

🏁 ATVMX Round 5 🏁
📍 Budds Creek- Mechanicsville, Maryland

Hopefully with fewer mechanical failures.
Hopefully with fewer bum injuries.
Definitely with the same amount of chaos.

The 24K Racing Team officially rebranded this week as the…….. 24K Hay Crew!

🏁No gate drops.

🏁No checkered flags

🏁Just 300+ bales

Bales baled, stacked, and enough hay dust to make us slightly itchy. 🤷‍♀️

At this point, we’re pretty sure hauling hay counts as cross-training 💪💪

24K Racing — Mechanical Failure Nationals 😬

Well… we survived Sunset Ridge MX. Kinda.

The track conditions this weekend were sponsored by deep ruts and mild emotional damage. At one point, I’m pretty sure the entire team was operating purely on caffeine, popsicles, ibuprofen, and threats.

🩶Dustin Murphy #12
Vet 30+ C — 9th Overall

Moto 1: 7th place. Pretty normal. Responsible, even.
Moto 2: lasted approximately 14 business seconds before chaos struck. Dustin ripped a holeshot into 3rd place and immediately decided to debut a brand new gymnastics routine. The landing was not ideal. The quad lost a seat. Twice. At that point, he switched from “race pace” to “Sunday drive.”
10/10 on the commitment, though.

🧡Kayleigh #015
Girls (8-13) — 5th Overall
5th both motos with solid rides all weekend! She was one of the few people on this team NOT actively trying to destroy every piece of her equipment.

90 Auto — 6th Overall
This quad absolutely hates competition. Mechanical failure in practice and Moto 1 officially earned it the new name: “The Belt Shredder 3000.”
At this point, we’re considering a quad exorcism. 🤷‍♀️

Kayleigh is currently accepting applications for a new mechanic. Qualifications include emotional stability and the ability to keep belts on THIS MACHINE for longer than 2.7 laps.

70 Auto — 11th Overall
Moto 1: Mechanical failure. Again. 🙄
Moto 2: 9th. Finally.
Honestly, crossing the finish line felt inspirational this weekend.

90 Shifter — 11th Overall
This class is absolutely feral. These kids ride like they pay their own medical bills. Every parent watching ages approximately 47 years per moto.

🩷Kristin “Wheeze” #016

Girls (8-13) — 13th Overall

The official sponsor of Wheeze’s weekend was Mechanical Failure.

A full motor rebuild happened between motos Saturday because apparently we enjoy suffering. At one point, I’m fairly certain we fixed something out of pure spite.

Did we complete all four laps? No.
Did we continue showing up anyway? Absolutely.

That’s called character development.

70 Auto — 10th Overall
Solid rides on a track that looked like it had been hit by a natural disaster.

🩵Kasey #019
50cc (4-6) — 5th Overall

Dad told her if she “went fast,” he’d buy her ice cream.

This child rode like she had sponsorship money on the line. She also informed everyone she would NOT be sharing said ice cream because “she earned it.” Respectfully… fair.

She has also requested another class because she “wants to race more with her friends.” And just like that… another one has caught the racing bug.

Our finances are terrified.

💙Kye
Official President of the Joel Hetrick Fan Club & Part-Time AMA Security

Kye spent the weekend guarding the pro gate and ensuring all riders safely made it to staging. He took this responsibility more seriously than most adults take their actual jobs.

Every pro rider received a high five. Select mechanics were also approved for high-five privileges. Congratulations, Johnny Hale. 😂

Team Ka-Chow Heath Hannah #61 surprised Kye with a signed helmet this weekend, and he has made it VERY clear this is now his greatest life achievement.
If you see him wearing it around the pits… no you didn’t. Mind ya business. 🤣

Overall, the weekend included:
• Mechanical failures
• Sand in places sand should never be
• Emergency repairs
• Questionable life choices
• Mild emotional damage
• And enough chaos to keep things interesting

Would we do it all again?

Unfortunately… YES. 🏁

24K Racing Report— Muddy Creek Edition

Muddy Creek is officially done and somehow we all survived. The quads are filthy, the gear smells illegal, and there’s enough Tennessee dirt in our trailer to qualify as waterfront property. But we walked away having FUN and with only minor emotional damage.

Official Racing Report:

Dustin Murphy #12
Vet 30+ C class — 8th place both motos.

Dustin spent the weekend successfully avoiding wrecks, mud holes, and public embarrassment. Most importantly: he did NOT get lapped by the A/B riders this week. Now, whether that was due to improved riding or the fact that Muddy Creek is approximately 47 miles long remains under investigation.
Either way, we’re proud of him.

Kayleigh #015
70cc Auto — 12th both motos.
Moto 1 started with some fuel/carb drama off the gate. Kayleigh would like everyone to know she is now accepting mechanic applications….
Qualifications include:
* showing up
* pretending to know what a carburetor does
* and surviving being questioned by an 11-year-old “mechanic”
Moto 2 went much smoother, which was honestly a little suspicious.

90cc Auto
This quad may finally be entering its “cooperative era.”
Moto 1 went awesome with a 7th place finish.
Moto 2 was going really well too while battling birthday boy Kenton! (Angela Marshall) until the chain exploded and ended those plans immediately.
Still ended up 7th overall, which feels pretty impressive for a machine held together by hope, dreams, and occasional threats.

90cc Shifter
13th and 12th for 12th overall.
This class is TOUGH. These kids are out here riding like they pay their own parts bills. 😂

Girls (8-13)
Moto 1 nearly sent Mom into cardiac arrest. Kayleigh got caught behind a holeshot pile up and started the race…..dead last.
And then this child absolutely went to WORK.
She CHARGED through the pack and worked her way all the way back to 4th place. THIS is the riding we know she’s capable of, and we were so proud watching her dig deep and go after it. 😍
Moto 2 had slightly less chaos and slightly more “Sunday Drive” energy for 6th place and 5th overall.

Kristin #016

70cc Auto
Kristin’s official race summary:
“Nothing to report.”
Honestly? Respect.
14th overall.

Girls (8-13)
12th in both motos.

Post-race highlights included:
“I was in front of some people for a lap.” and “I really liked that first double!” She would also like everyone to be warned:

“Next round, I’m beating them all.”

We support this level of confidence. Go get em girl!

Kasey #019

Made her 2026 ATVMX National debut this weekend and landed on the podium with 3rd overall. 🥉🥉🥉

As the only girl in this class, Kasey reported that she “weally likes passing those boys,” which honestly feels exactly like the kind of energy we’re looking for around here. 💅 💪

Huge shoutout to Gracie Lundry and Makayla Newell for letting Kasey tag along with the “big girl racers” all weekend.
Kasey reports she signed approximately one million autographs and is now accepting fan mail. 🩷

Kye #021
Kye spent most of the weekend on the “little track” completing roughly fifty-leven laps and learning extremely important scientific facts like:

* a Milwaukee battery charges in exactly 37.6 minutes
* snacks disappear faster when siblings are nearby
* and high fives from Joel Hetrick #88 automatically mean you won the weekend!

He would also like to report that:
* Heath Hannah #61 “did weally good and took a picture wif me” KaChow!
* Stiles West Racing “was weally fast out there too”

Outstanding journalism. No notes.

Overall, we’ve got some work to do before the next round:

* quads to fix
* chains to replace
* everything to pressure wash
* and at least three people who need naps immediately!

We had a blast, made some memories, and we’ll be ready to do it all over again.
