Ready to ride safer? Sign up for HBPD’s FREE Student eBike Safety Program!

The Huntington Beach Police Department is hosting a hands-on eBike rider training on Saturday, September 12, at the Huntington Beach Sports Complex (Parking Lot).

Students will learn real-world eBike safety skills from trained HBPD instructors, participate in hands-on riding instruction, a classroom presentation, a written test, and receive educational materials. Students who successfully complete the course will also receive a new school permit sticker.

Choose one session:
9:00–11:30 AM
12:00–2:30 PM

• Bring your own eBike and helmet

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PHOTOS: THINK BEFORE YOU SHARE!

As the new school year kicks off, many parents capture those precious “first day” moments. But before you post that adorable photo, take a moment to think about what’s really being shared.

Back-to-school pics can unintentionally reveal personal info that puts your child at risk. Even with tight privacy settings, it's smart to limit what details go public.

🚫 What NOT to Share in Back-to-School Photos:
❌ School name or logo
❌ Age or birthday
❌ Teacher’s name or grade level
❌ Identifying features (height, weight, etc.)
❌ Personal details that could relate to passwords/security questions

Safety Tip:
If your child’s sign, backpack, or clothing includes sensitive info, blur it out or cover it up before posting. A little caution goes a long way in keeping your family safe.

One of the first things we teach students is how to fall - you never know when it will happen, but you can still be prepared! This drill is an awesome way for the students to practice their break falls with also adding an element of surprise. By drilling this way they are not only developing their ability to slap out but also to have good reaction time and trigger their muscle memory when they need it!
