All-Star members of past and present, today’s news is something I’ve had so many emotions over the last few months.
All-Star has been so many things to me and so many others (at least I hope) throughout the last 8 years – a place to come and give a new sport a try, a place to pursue a competitive athletic passion, a safe place for kids to be loved/praised/guided/celebrated, a place to work that offered an escape from life’s stresses for a few hours most days, a place to network with other local businesses and our community of families, and more. This business, this sport, our students, and our staff is something I treasure and will always give thanks to God for. Without each and every one of our members, whether still enrolled or not, this place would never have been what it is and I owe each of those families so much gratitude.
With all that being said, I now am in the position to let you know that I will be closing the business down at the end of May to begin a new chapter in my life.
Cue tears.
Though I truly wish I could continue to keep the gym open purely for the wonderful staff and loyal members we’ve procured over the years, this is a very personal and very difficult decision that I’ve reached. Gymnastics has been a part of my life now for 20+ years as an athlete/coach/employer, and it’s now time for me to embrace a new role and routine in my life. I’m grateful for all that gymnastics has brought to me, most of all my staff and students whom I’ve come to love as family, and I hope that it continues to be in my life and yours in some way.
As far as details go, our final day of business will be on Saturday, May 25th. If you are scheduled for your regular 4th week class on the 27th or 28th, you’ll receive a partial refund for that class. I’ve chosen to proceed this way simply due to the fact that I couldn’t charge partial tuition on the 1st without raising questions before the time was appropriate to include our members in our decision. I will be headed out of town on May 26th (planned over a year ago, without knowing that this would all transpire around the same time), and I could not in good conscience leave town and not be present for our last days of business.
Parents, thank you. For trusting me and my staff with your kids. For asking the hard questions. For investing in a small, woman-owned business. For spreading the word about how much your kids loved coming to classes with us. For allowing gymnastics and All-Star to be a part of your lives. It’s truly been an honor getting to know all of you and I am forever grateful for your loyalty and kindness to help make my gymnastics dreams come true.
To my students – (parents please relay this in the best way you can when the time is appropriate):
Never stop dreaming big! I’ve watched so many of you grow up in our programs and become amazing kids and gymnasts. You can achieve big things. You just need the confidence to do so – and I believe in you! Always have and always will. Whether you decide to continue to pursue gymnastics or tumbling, just know that I am SO grateful you were in my class at one time or another and gave it a try at All-Star. Thank you for working hard, setting goals with us, being silly, learning to pick yourself up after you fall, and most importantly being an awesome kid. Keep that up! Go do big things knowing that I am always cheering you on! And if you see me or another teacher you’ve come to love out in the world at the grocery store or at the park – PLEASE come give us a hug or a hi! Each of you mean so much to us and we are so proud to have been your teachers, coaches, and mentors.
May God bless you and your future in gymnastics!
