Artisan Golf fitter Jay Johnson breaks down what he uncovers when blueprinting a set of clubs, measuring exact length, loft, lie angle, total weight, and balance points. The most common issue in off-the-rack equipment? Incorrect lie angles and playing the completely wrong shaft, especially for amateur golfers. Playing a shaft flex or profile that doesn’t fit your natural tempo forces compensations on every swing, making consistency nearly impossible. Proper blueprinting ensures every club in the bag works with your motion, not against it.

⛳️ Artisan Golf co-founder John Hatfield walks through how eye dominance directly dictates ball position and neck design in a custom putter fitting. When a left-eye dominant golfer naturally plays the ball forward in their stance, a putter with a full shaft of offset forces the face to aim left at impact. Put a perfect stroke on it, and the ball goes left every time. To fix it, golfers subconsciously manipulate their hands and face angle to compensate. At Artisan Golf, offset and hosel geometry are matched directly to how a player sees the target, eliminating forced mechanics so the stroke stays pure.

Every single detail is documented to a T during the initial fitting and build, any club Artisan has ever made can be replicated exactly as it was the first time—giving players full confidence when it’s time for a fresh set.

⛳️ David, who handles the laser work here at Artisan Golf, breaks down how every sole, cavity, and bumper is detailed in our Fort Worth shop.

After the putter head receives its face texture from Shane, it arrives on David’s desks as a blank canvas. Before anything is permanent, David dials in the laser focus and runs a light white mark on the metal to verify alignment. If it isn’t perfect, it easily buffs off so he can start fresh. Once approved, the laser burns deep into the metal—engraving “Made in Fort Worth, Texas,” our signature cavity star, model specs, and custom bumper text deep enough to hold paint fill or stay raw.
