🏌️‍♀️ The Kathy Whitworth Invitational is coming home.

After two wonderful years at The Lakes at Castle Hills while Mira Vista Country Club underwent a comprehensive renovation, we are excited to announce that the Kathy Whitworth Invitational will return to Mira Vista Country Club for the 2027 championship, March 14–16, 2027.

For 25 years, Mira Vista served as the home of the Invitational, helping shape the tradition and excellence that have made the tournament one of the nation's premier junior girls golf championships.

We are incredibly grateful to The Lakes at Castle Hills and their outstanding team for serving as such gracious hosts during this transition period. Their support ensured that the Invitational continued to provide a first-class championship experience for the next generation of young golfers.

We look forward to welcoming players, families, college coaches, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters back to a beautifully renovated Mira Vista Country Club in 2027.

🏆 From the Kathy Whitworth Invitational to the U.S. Women's Open.

Congratulations to 2014 Kathy Whitworth Invitational Champion Nelly Korda on capturing the 2026 U.S. Women's Open title and her fourth major championship.

Nelly's victory is a reminder of the incredible talent that has competed in the Kathy Whitworth Invitational throughout the years.

The KWI was well represented at Riviera Country Club, including:
• Nelly Korda – 2014 KWI Champion & 2026 U.S. Women's Open Champion
• Alison Lee – 2010 KWI Champion and final-round contender
• Brittany Lang – 2002 KWI Champion & 2016 U.S. Women's Open Champion
• Hailee Cooper – T12 at the 2016 KWI
• Gurleen Kaur – 2016 KWI participant
• Chloe Kovelesky – Multi-time KWI participant
• Asterisk Talley – Competed in the 2026 KWI and finished T22
• Zoe Cusack – Third-place finisher at the 2025 KWI and one of the championship's youngest competitors at age 17

Adding to the connection, Alison Lee was a member of the 2013 U.S. Junior Solheim Cup Team captained by Kathy Whitworth herself.

We are incredibly proud of these talented women and honored to have been a small part of their journey.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear friend and longtime supporter, Walter Rainwater.

For many years, Walter was a familiar face at the Kathy Whitworth Invitational. Whether welcoming players, sponsors, volunteers, college coaches, or families, he embodied the spirit of hospitality, generosity, and kindness that has become a hallmark of our tournament.

Walter's unwavering support helped shape the Kathy Whitworth Invitational from its earliest days. His love for junior golf and his belief in providing opportunities for young women left a lasting impact on countless lives and helped build the foundation of what the tournament has become today.

Those who knew Walter will remember his warm smile, his genuine interest in others, and his commitment to making everyone feel welcome. His presence at Mira Vista Country Club, especially overlooking the first tee, became a cherished part of the tournament experience for so many.

While we mourn his loss, we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind and the example he set through his generosity, leadership, and friendship.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rainwater family, and all who loved him.

In honor of Walter's extraordinary contributions to the tournament, the 2027 Kathy Whitworth Invitational will be dedicated to his memory.

Kelly Zhang of Hillsborough, California (Class of 2030) captured the 2026 Kathy Whitworth Invitational title with rounds of 70–70 for a two-day total of 4-under par (140) at The Lakes at Castle Hills.

Zoey Kim finished second at 3-under par (141), with Hailey Kim finishing third at 2-under par (142).

Thank you to the many volunteers, USGA Rules Officials, and the entire team at The Lakes at Castle Hills for helping make this year’s tournament a great success.
